Spotlight partners with World Vision & Wrap with Love: One Square at a Time
Spotlight is partnering with World Vision and Wrap with Love for the "One Square at a Time" campaign to help provide the warmth and shelter of a hand-knitted blanket to those most in need, all around the world.
Spotlight stores will serve as a national collection point for keen knitters and crocheters to drop off their "squares" to then be made into warming blankets by the dedicated team of volunteers at Wrap With Love.
Wrap With Love, a Sydney-based non for profit organization, has been making hand-knitted blankets and wraps for communities around the world the past 27 years. This year, Wrap With Love has also been instrumental in providing blankets to Australian families affected by the summer's devastating bushfires.
International Humanitarian agency World Vision plays a vital role in the Wrap With Love journey and over the last 15 years, it has distributed around 150,000 'Wrap with Love' wraps to vulnerable children and families in countries around the world including Afghanistan, Burundi, Malawi, Somalia, Iraq, Lesotho and Zimbabwe - providing in many cases life-saving warmth in the most dire circumstances.
The completed blankets take 150 hours to make, are a single bed size and can be worn as a wrap or as a blanket on a bed.
How can I get involved?
Your donations of knitted or crocheted squares will be stitched into blankets by Wrap With Love volunteers before being distributed to communities in need.
You can use whatever yarn you have at home or shop our huge range here.
Finished squares can be dropped off at the designated collection points in all Spotlight stores until 31st October, 2020.
Alternatively, squares can be posted directly to Wrap With Love in Sydney:
Mail: PO Box 10, Rosebery NSW 1445
Deliveries: Unit 4, 4 Huntley Street, Alexandria NSW 2015 (Wednesdays and Fridays 9.30am - 2.30pm)
Keen knitters and crocheters are encouraged to join Spotlight's dedicated Crafts For A Cause Facebook Group where they can share tips and tricks with like-minded makers.
