Cake Toppers

Personalise Your Bakes with Cake Toppers for Every Celebration

Spotlight stocks cake toppers for every occasion, and the right one can completely change how a cake looks. It adds to the cake's charm and gives your bake a personal, finished touch that people notice. Our range covers birthdays, baby showers, engagements, weddings and milestone parties. You'll find message toppers, number toppers and cupcake picks that work great for homemade cakes, store-bought cakes and dessert tables alike.

Pick the Perfect Cake Topper for Your Party

The right topper comes down to the occasion. Here's a simple guide to help you choose.

• For birthdays, a birthday cake topper with a name, number or fun message is always a hit. For instance, a "twenty-one" topper adds a fun focal point, while message toppers and themed designs suit guests of all ages.
• Kids' parties suit themed options like unicorn cake toppers, mermaid cake toppers, fairy cake toppers and rainbow cake toppers. Licensed character toppers are great for these celebrations, too.
• Wedding cake toppers in acrylic or metal give your cake a polished, elegant finish.
• Baby shower and gender reveal cakes look lovely with sweet toppers in pastel colours that suit the party theme.
• Cupcake toppers are an easy way to decorate multiple treats with a consistent look.

Not sure what to go with? Spotlight also stocks a full range of crafting supplies so you can make your own personalised cake toppers with custom designs that match your vision.

What Are Cake Toppers Made From?

Cake toppers are either edible or non-edible. Knowing the difference helps you plan your cake decorating. Non-edible cake toppers are designed to sit on top of the cake and should be removed before serving. Spotlight's range includes wood, metal, paper, cardboard, and acrylic cake toppers. You'll also find popular finishes such as mirror acrylic for a polished look. Edible cake toppers are a practical choice for kids' cakes and dessert tables. Made from edible icing images or wafer paper, they sit directly on the cake and are completely safe to eat. We stock moulds, food colouring, fondant icing, wafer paper, confectionery, and icing decorations so you can create your own edible custom cake topper from scratch.

Get the Size Right So Your Cake Looks Just Right

Topper size makes a real difference to how your cake looks. A mismatch in scale can throw off an otherwise beautiful bake. As a general rule, match the topper width to the width of your cake. Cupcake toppers and small cakes look best with compact options. Taller birthday cakes suit number or word toppers that stand up clearly. Sheet cakes and large celebration cakes can carry wider toppers comfortably. Leave room for candles, sprinkles and other cake decorations. A topper doesn't need to cover the entire top of the cake.

Match Your Cake Toppers with the Whole Party Table

Cake toppers look even better when they work with the rest of your celebration. If you're hosting a party, match your topper with balloons, banners, tableware, servingware, party decorations, and other themed accessories. A coordinated setup can make the whole event feel organised without adding extra effort. And it's much easier to achieve than it sounds. Spotlight's got all the party supplies you need to bring your celebration together, from treats to decorations and more.
