Birthday Candles & Sparklers

Birthday Candles and Sparklers That Light Up The Celebration

It starts with a spark. The room quiets, the cake appears and all eyes turn to the glow of the candles. That little flicker brings big smiles, loud cheers and sometimes a few happy tears.

At Spotlight, we make that moment shine brighter with our huge range of birthday candles and sparklers. Whether you're planning a quiet dinner or a massive birthday bash, you'll find everything you need at Australia's go-to party store.

It's Not a Happy Birthday Without Candles

Candles are more than just cake decor. Blowing out candles while making a wish has been part of birthday traditions for centuries. Some say the smoke carries your wish into the sky, others believe it's all about celebrating life's journey. Whatever the reason, it simply isn't a happy birthday without a candle or two lighting up the cake.

At Spotlight, you'll find sparkler candles in loads of sizes to suit everything from dainty cupcakes to towering layer cakes. They're perfect when you want that little extra sparkle on your special day.

And, they're not just for birthdays. Light them up on New Year's Eve, baby shower centrepieces or Halloween party cakes. They bring excitement to any event and make your photos look even more magical.

Finding the Best Fit for Your Cake and Theme

Choosing the right birthday cake candles can be fun when you know what to look for. Here are a few quick tips to help you match your candles to your party theme:

• Rose gold, pastel or pink glitter candles are perfect for soft, elegant parties
• Disney and character-themed candles bring the magic to kids' cakes
• Go bold with gold glitter or metallic pick candles to spell out names or short messages for adult celebrations
• Milestone birthdays look great with large number candles

No matter your theme, there's a style to suit.

How Many Candles Should Go on the Cake?

There's no rule here. You can go with tradition and match the candles to the birthday age. Or just pop on a single number candle. You might even skip the count and use a few decorative ones. It all depends on the look you're after (and how much room is on the cake).

Keeping Candle Moments Safe and Fun

Candles are all about fun, but safety should come first. Here are some quick tips:

• Always place party candles securely on the cake
• Keep candles away from flammable decorations or balloons
• Light candles just before the cake comes out
• Use placemats to protect your table surface if lighting candles nearby
• Supervise kids around lit candles and sparklers
