What Should You Pack Inside a Lolly Bag?

Lolly bags are one of the easiest ways to send guests home happy. But what goes into one?

The best lolly bags are balanced, fun to open and packed with enough variety to make everyone smile. They should have a mix of sweet treats in varying textures, colours and flavours to keep things interesting. This includes:

• Chews for a soft bite
• Marshmallows for a fluffy surprise
• Candies for that extra sweetness
• Jelly beans for a rainbow touch

Don't forget to add a few playful party favours that match the theme of your event.

Find All Your Favourite Party Lollies in One Place

Spotlight's confectionery collection has something for every sweet tooth. You'll find chews like fizzy worms and fruit twists, gummy favourites like strawberry clouds, rainbow mixes of jelly beans, retro classics such as fizzers and drumstick pops, and cheeky treats like Pooplets and Chompers all in one place.

How to Build a Party Mix That Works

Matching your mixed lolly bag to your party theme helps make your event more put-together. If you're not sure where to start, here's a quick guide:

• Halloween: Go for sour dippers, chewy gummy worms and anything with a spooky or fizzy vibe
• Baby shower: Stick with pastel marshmallows, jelly beans and fruit chews
• Birthday party: Mix it up with novelty candies, lollipops, jelly beans and something chocolatey
• Gender reveal: Choose themed colours with marshmallows, lollipops or lolly candies in pink, blue or neutral

Don't forget to consider the dietary restrictions of your guests, especially for a kids' party. Some may need gluten-free, sugar-free or nut-free options. So, it's always a good idea to keep alternatives on hand.

Party Uses for Lollies Beyond the Lolly Bag

Lollies aren't just for party bags. Use them to:

• Set up a bright and colourful candy buffet with themed jars, scoops and milk chocolate fountains
• Use small lollies and candies to top cakes or decorate cupcakes
• Build a DIY lolly station so guests can pack their own bags
• Fill a jar with lollies for a guessing game or lucky draw
• Create small take-home boxes for holiday events like Mother's Day or classroom parties
• Add sweets to place settings as edible decor or thank-you tokens

Complete the Setup with These Party Essentials

Lollies might be the stars, but every sweet setup needs a good supporting cast. Here are some extras to round out your party:

• Colourful tableware that matches your lolly colours
• Decorative toppers for cakes and cupcakes
• Festive balloon garlands to frame your candy table
• Candles and sparklers for birthday cakes and more
• Colourful party decor like paper lanterns, confetti and bunting
• Party entertainment essentials like glowsticks, poppers, piñatas and more
