A functional kitchen is the key to successful cooking. Organising your kitchen can help to streamline the preparation of your meals, saving you time that you would otherwise spend sorting through drawers and cupboards in search of what you need. When cooking, we often use a range of different kitchen essentials, including, of course, cookware. An integral component that makes many meals possible, cookware is also known to be difficult to organise. There's nothing worse than the noise of clanging pots and pans while you search for that one fry pan you need for your meals.
Learning how to store your cookware effectively helps to reduce the hassle of sorting through chaos for your kitchen essentials. Check out our helpful kitchen cookware storage ideas on how to store your cookware and enjoy an organised backdrop to your next culinary adventure.

Protecting Your Cookware When Stacking
Stacking your cookware, whether on a shelf or in a kitchen storage drawer, is a great way to maximise space. However, in some cases, stacking can cause damage to cast iron or non-stick surfaces. When stacking, we recommend positioning pan protectors between your pots and pans to avoid scratching your cookware. We also recommend only stacking 2- 3 pots or pans at a time, as any more than that can cause further damage to your cookware. You can also use anti slip liners on your shelf or the bottom of your drawer when stacking. This will ensure the bottom of your pots and pans are protected from your surfaces.
Maximise Kitchen Shelf Storage
If you're lucky to have built-in shelves within your kitchen, you can maximise your existing kitchen storage with ease. Maximise the practicality of these shelves by using them to store your cookware. Kitchen storage shelves make it easy for you to see your cookware at a glance, with your pots and pans displayed in plain sight. No need to sort through drawers or cabinets to find what you need!
Storing your cookware on your shelf comes with a number of benefits, including the promotion of airflow through your cookware. Sometimes, enclosed drawers or cupboards can result in a build-up of moisture or odour. Displaying your cookware on an open shelf allows for additional air-drying, preventing the build-up of bacteria.
When storing your cookware on your kitchen shelves, start by storing the heaviest of your cookware on the bottom shelf and the lightest on the top shelf. This helps to reduce the risk of heavy items falling from a higher shelf.
If you have a minimal amount of shelf space available, we recommend only storing the cookware you find yourself regularly using, such as a fry pan or saucepan, on these shelves, and keeping the other cookware that you don't reach for as often in your storage cabinets or drawers.
Conceal Cookware in Drawers
Drawers are a great option for kitchen storage. Easily accessible and great for concealing cookware, organising your kitchen essentials in drawers will allow you to easily view your cookware without needing to unpack an entire cupboard. Drawers are also very customisable through the power of vertical dividers or pegboards that help you to create distinct sections within your drawers to separate your cookware. In addition to separating your cookware, pegs and dividers help to keep your cookware securely in place, preventing it from moving around when opening or closing your drawers. Store your cookware in your kitchen drawers and enjoy a clean and organised kitchen free from the industrial appearance of cookware.
Organise Your Cookware Lids
Cookware lids make it difficult to stack your pots or pans, so we recommend storing these separately from your cookware. Most often, these lids are designed with handles on the top, preventing them from being stacked on top of one another. Instead, it's a good idea to keep your lids upright. Whether this be in a kitchen storage drawer or cabinet, keeping your lids upright through the use of vertical racks works to prevent stacking your lids, so you can easily view and grab the size you need.
If you have a bit of space in your cupboards, you can use pan lid holders that attach to the flat internal surface of your cupboard to store your lids. This helps to maximise your cupboard storage, leaving room to store your coordinating pots and pans together with your lids.
Create a kitchen that feels professional by displaying your pans on a rack. In this scenario, your frying pans are hung from a kitchen rack by the handle, which is connected to a hook that is slung over the rack, offering convenient access to your cookware and allowing you to quickly grab what you need with ease. You could even display your essential kitchen utensils next to your pans for further convenience. No need to dig through deep drawers or pull everything out of your cabinets to find that perfectly sized fry pan!
Hanging your frying pans also frees up your benchtops, making it easy to prepare your meals without needing to sacrifice on your bench space. This method of kitchen organisation helps to reduce damage to your pots and pans that may occur when stacking your cookware in drawers or cupboards.
Further to the practical benefits, displaying your pans on a cookware storage rack will elevate the styling of your kitchen, transforming your kitchen into a personal workspace for your next culinary creation.
