At Spotlight, you can shop from a range of different curtain rod brackets to suit different curtain rods. Pick the Right Curtain Rod Brackets for Your Curtains
When shopping for curtain rod brackets, it's important to buy the correct brackets for your curtain rods, as some may not be compatible with your other curtain hardware. Spotlight's range of curtain rod brackets includes:
- Single rod brackets - Suitable for hanging one pair of curtains on a single curtain rod.
- Double rod brackets - Designed to hang two rods and for displaying two layers of curtains (e.g. a valance in front of the feature curtain), which may be your preference if you're opting for a formal look. Alternatively, you may wish to pair your feature curtain with a blockout or sheer panel.
- Centre support brackets - If your windows are extra wide, you should introduce a centre support bracket to hold up the rod and prevent it from bowing with the weight of the curtain drape. As a general rule, include an additional support bracket every 75 to 90 centimetres.
- Elbow brackets - Help to attach curtains around an angled wall. Position this bracket in the corner so you can realign the rod to the angle of the wall.
- Adjustable brackets - Can be extended or shortened to fit different types of windows, such as windows that project further out from the wall than others. For aesthetic reasons, you should aim for a small gap between the wall and your curtains.
- Stayed brackets - Often designed in an L-shape, these curtain rod brackets feature an additional brace known as a "stay" that offers superior support and stability. These curtain rod brackets are able to support heavy curtains, such as blockout curtains.
- Unstayed brackets - Unlike stayed brackets, these brackets don't feature an additional support brace. Instead, these curtain rod brackets are designed for holding lighter fabrics such as sheer curtains.
What Size Curtain Rod Brackets Do I Need?
As curtain rod brackets are designed to offer support and stability for your curtain rods, you should ensure they are compatible with one another. When shopping for curtain rod brackets, you should ensure that the diameter of your rod will fit within the cup of your curtain bracket. Spotlight brackets are made to suit a range of rod sizes, including classic 16mm and 25mm sizes, so finding the right one is made easy.

Install Your Brackets with Confidence
To install your curtain rod brackets, make sure to accurately measure their spacing. Mark the top of where your brackets will sit, approximately 75mm above your windows and 150mm to the side. Next, make a mark for the holes and check that they are lined up with each other. Extra brackets might be needed for long rods or heavy curtains. These additional brackets will often be positioned in the centre between your side brackets.
If securing your curtain brackets to a plaster wall, use a stud finder before drilling to prevent any damage to wiring within your walls. When safe, pre-drill holes into your walls and position your brackets, securing into place with the appropriate screws.
