HALLOWEEN CROCHET WITCH HAT

Instructions

Note: Hat is worked from pointy end top-down with a double layer to increase rigidity.

Special Abbreviations / Stitches

Fphtr = Front post half treble - work a half treble around the post of the specified st by passing the crochet hook around the st from the RS of work.

Using C1 and 4mm hook, make a magic ring.

Top Layer (All Sizes)

1st Rnd (RS) - 2ch (does not count as a st throughout), 4tr in ring, slst into tr at beg ... 4sts.

2nd Rnd - 2ch, 1tr in same st, 2tr in next st, 1tr in next st, 2tr in last st, slst into tr at beg ... 6sts.

3rd Rnd - 2ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in next st, (2tr in next st, 1tr in next st) twice, slst into tr at beg ... 9sts.

Lining

Using C1 and 4mm hook, make 24ch, slst into 1st ch.

1st Rnd - 2ch, 2tr in same ch, 1tr in each of next 7ch, (2tr in next ch, 1tr in each of next 7ch) twice, slst into tr at beg ... 27sts.

Working on these sts, cont from of Top Layer to last rnd of each size.

Fasten off.

Brim

Using C3 and 4mm hook, working through BOTH layers (Top & Lining), join yarn to any edge st.

Fasten off.

Finishing

DO NOT PRESS. Sew buckle to second stripe of C2 as shown. Turn Hat and Lining inside out, slip Lining over Top Layer and sew both layers together around the first rnd of the first stripe of C1 at the pointy end. Sew in ends.
