TULIP CHRISTMAS FABRIC PAINT TABLE RUNNER

Tulip Christmas Fabric Paint Table Runner Project

LEVEL: EASY

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Dine by Ladelle Logan Rib Table Runner in Stone
  • Tulip Soft Fabric Paint in Leaf Green, True Red & White
  • New dish sponge
  • Scissors
  • Paint Brushes

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Unpack the table runner and, if necessary, use a gentle iron to eliminate major creases.

Step 2 - Lay it down on a firm flat surface, protecting the surface with newspapers or a drop cloth - the paint can soak through to the "wrong" side!

Step 3 - Using sharp scissors, cut some basic shapes out of the sponge. In this project, we used a large leaf, a small leaf and a round dot for the berries. Simple shapes work best and can be layered for detail if desired - just let each layer dry before stamping or painting over the top.

Tip - Here is your opportunity to get creative and try different shapes such as stars, hearts, bells, or candy canes!

Step 4 - Using a fabric paint bottle with the fine applicator tip, or some paint on a fine brush, mark out the shape of the central wreath and the stems of the leaf clusters.

Step 5 - Pour some fabric paint onto a flat disposable surface, a plastic lid from the recycling makes a great palette. Using your desired colours, load some paint onto your sponge stamps, making sure the stamping surface is completely covered.

Step 6 - Apply the design around your painted "stems", using a single motion and gentle pressure to ensure paint coverage. Reload your sponge every couple of stamps. Any missed spots can be touched up using a brush, and you can add details in the same way.

Step 7 - Let the design dry before moving the runner or touch the painted surfaces. Follow paint package directions for setting/curing times and washing instructions.
