FOLK ART ETCHING CREAM DOG TREAT JAR
Level: Beginner
What you'll need:
- Glass Jar
- Stencil Template
- Folk Art Glass Etching Cream
- Paint Brush
- Gloves
- Tape (Depending On Template Creation)
- Tablecloth
Instructions
Step 1
- Prep the surface with a tablecloth or similar covering.
- Wash the glass jar with warm soapy water. Allow to dry completely before starting project.
Step 2
- Prepare your template. We used a machine to print and cut our template on adhesive vinyl.
- If you don't have a machine, you can print or draw your design and transfer to a similar material.
Step 3
- Either use the adhesive back and place your template directly onto the glass. If template is not adhesive, use tape and secure the edges so the template does not move.
- Ensure the template has adhered well (we used a brayer to roll out bubbles). Any edges of the template that is not stuck down may cause bleeding of the design.
Step 4
- Wear protective gloves to avoid skin contact.
- Use a brush and apply a thick, even layer of the cream over your stencil or desired design, ensuring all exposed areas are covered.
- Ensure the cream covers the entire design.
- Let it sit for about 15 minutes, rinse the cream off under running water, and dry the surface.
- Rinse the sink with running water for at least two minutes to wash away any remaining cream
Step 5
- Remove the stencil or tape to reveal the etched design.
- Dry the surface completely.
- The design is now permanent and dishwasher safe.
