MONKEY BEANIE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 'Moda Vera' Monkey 100g x 1 ball 1st Colour (C1-cream)
- Monkey Twist 100g x 1 ball 2nd Colour (C2-print)
- A pair 9mm Knitting Needles or size required to give correct tension
- Medium size pom pom maker
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Tape measure
INSTRUCTIONS
MEASUREMENTS:
To fit head (approx) 56-58cm
TENSION:
8.5 sts and 13 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 9mm needles.
BEANIE
Using 9mm needles and C1, cast on 49 sts.
Beg Rib – 1st row (RS) – K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.
2nd row – P1, * K1, P1, rep from * to end.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 6cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.
Break off C1.
Using C2, Next row - Knit.
Beg Patt - 1st row (WS) - K2, P1, * K3, P1, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.
2nd row - P2, K1, * P3, K1, rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.
Rep last 2 rows until work measures 18cm from beg, ending with a 1st row.
Shape Crown - 1st row (RS) - P2, * K2, P2tog, P1, rep from * to last 3 sts, K1, P2 … 38 sts.
2nd row - K2, * P1, K2, rep from * to end.
3rd row - P2tog, * K1, P2tog, rep from * to end … 25 sts.
4th row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.
5th row - P1, * sl 1, K2tog, psso, P1, rep from * to end … 13 sts.
6th row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.
Break off yarn leaving end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Using half mattress st, join side edges together to form centre back seam. Sew in all ends. Using C1, make a pom pom and attach securely to top of beanie.
