Instructions

Note: Marvel 12ply Denim Effects is soft to touch, and glides through the needles. This jumper is close round neck, fit to the waist with a rib finish.

Back

Using 5mm needles, cast on 66 (70-78-86) sts.

Beg Lower Band -

1st row - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.

2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows form rib.

Cont in rib until work measures 6cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row and inc 1 (3-3-1) st/s evenly across last row ... 67 (73-81-87) sts.

Change to 6.50mm needles.

Beg Patt -

1st row (RS) - Knit.

2nd row - Purl.

3rd row - * K2tog, yfwd, rep from * to last st, K1.

4th row - Knit.

Rows 1 to 4 incl form patt.

Cont in patt until work measures 32cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping.

Cont in patt until work measures 12.5 (13-14-14) cm from coloured threads, working last row on WS. **

Work a further 20 (22-22-24) rows patt.

Shape Shoulders -

Keeping patt correct, cast off 6 (7-8-8) sts at beg of next 6 rows, then 7 (6-7-9) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Leave rem 17 (19-19-21) sts on a stitch-holder for Neckband.

Front

Work as for Back to **.

Shape Neck -

1st row (RS) - Patt 29 (31-35-37), turn.

Cont on these 29 (31-35-37) sts for left side of neck.

Note - Do not work a yfwd unless you have sufficient sts to work the corresponding K2tog, and vice versa, instead work these sts in stocking st.

Keeping patt correct, dec one st at neck edge in 3rd row, then in every foll 4th row until 25 (27-31-33) sts rem.

Work a further 5 (7-7-9) rows patt.

Shape Shoulder -

Keeping patt correct, cast off 6 (7-8-8) sts at beg of next row, then in every foll alt row twice more.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 7 (6-7-9) sts.

Slip next 9 (11-11-13) sts onto a stitch-holder and leave for Neckband.

With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts and patt to end.

Cont on these 29 (31-35-37) sts for right side of neck.

Keeping patt correct, dec one st at neck edge in 2nd row, then in every foll 4th row until 25 (27-31-33) sts rem.

Work a further 6 (8-8-0) rows patt.

Shape Shoulder -

Keeping patt correct, cast off 6 (7-8-8) sts at beg of next row, then in every foll alt row twice more.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 7 (6-7-9) sts.

Sleeves

Using 5mm needles, cast on 26 (30-30-30) sts.

Beg Cuff -

Work in rib as for Lower Band of Back until work measures 6cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row and inc 3 (1-1-3) st/s evenly across last row ... 29 (31-31-33) sts.

Change to 6.50mm needles.

Beg Patt -

Work in patt as for Back, noting to work extra sts into patt as they become available, inc one st at each end of 5th row, then in every foll 6th row until there are 35 (45-53-55) sts, then in every foll 8th row until there are 51 (55-57-59) sts.

Cont in patt without shaping, until work measures 43cm from beg, working last row on WS.

Shape Top -

Keeping patt correct, cast off 7 (8-8-8) sts at beg of next 6 rows.

Cast off rem 9 (7-9-11) sts.

Neckband

Using mattress st, join right shoulder seam. With RS facing and using 5mm needles, knit up 20 (22-22-24) sts evenly along left side of neck, knit across 9 (11-11-13) sts from front stitch-holder, knit up 20 (22-22-24) sts evenly along right side of neck, then knit across 17 (19-19-21) sts from back stitch-holder ... 66 (74-74-82) sts.

Work in rib as for Lower Band of Back beg with a 2nd row, until Neckband measures 4cm, ending with a 2nd row.

Cast off loosely in rib.

Finishing

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join left shoulder and Neckband seam. Sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of sleeves to shoulder seam. Join side and sleeve seams.
