Notes
- Collar is worked from side to side, back and forth in short rows.
- Short rows are a way to add shaping to a knit piece without changing the st count by increasing or decreasing. When working short rows, only part of a row is knit before you turn the work. This gradually adds height to one section of the knitting, while the height of the other section does not change.
- In this design, short rows are used to make one long edge shorter (neck edge of Collar) than the other long edge (lower edge of Collar).
- Generally, short rows include a wrap and turn technique that conceals the point at which the work was turned. In this design, we found that the texture of the yarn beautifully hid the short row turn, so we didn't need to use the wrap and turn technique!
Collar
Cast on 12 sts.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K10, TURN.
Row 4: Sl 1, purl to end of row.
Row 5: K7, TURN.
Row 6: Sl 1, p to end of row.
Rep Rows 1-6 until neck edge (shorter side edge) measures about 53.5 cm end with a Row 1 as the last row you work.
Bind off.
Finishing
Cut ribbon length in half.
With sewing needle and thread, sew one ribbon length to each corner of neck.
Trim the yarn ends so that they blend in with the shag.
