Instructions

Note: The work is turned at the end of every rnd to keep the patt consistent when dividing for the Purse Frame. Move stitch marker up every row and leave in place until shaping of second side of opening is begun. Pattern is worked in UK Crochet terms.

Special Abbreviations

• Dc2tog = dc 2sts together - insert hook through specified st, pull a loop through, insert hook through foll st, pull a loop through, yoh and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
• Bptr = Back post treble - work tr around post of specified st, by passing hook from back of work around front of st and to back again, yoh, pull loop around st, yoh, pull through 2 loops, yoh and pull through rem 2 loops.
• Fptr = Front post treble - work tr around post of specified st, by passing hook from front of work around back of st and to front again, yoh, pull loop around st, yoh, pull through 2 loops, yoh and pull through rem 2 loops.
• htr2tog = htr 2sts together - yoh, insert hook through next st, pull a loop through, insert hook through foll st, pull a loop through, yoh and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Using 4mm hook, make 20ch.

1st Rnd (RS) - Miss 1ch, 1dc in next and each ch to end, turn to work up opp side of chains, miss same ch, 1dc in each ch to last ch, slst into dc at beg, turn ... 36sts.

2nd Rnd - 2ch (does not count as a st throughout), 1tr in same and each st around, slst into tr at beg, turn.

3rd Rnd - 1ch (does not count as a st throughout), 1htr in same st, (1Fptr around next st, 1Bptr around next st) 8 times, 1Fptr around next st, 1htr in next st (place stitch marker in htr), rep ( ) 8 times, 1Fptr around last st, slst into htr at beg, turn.

4th - 20th Rnd - Rep 3rd Rnd.

Divide and Shape Opening for Frame -

1st Row - 1ch, 1htr in same st, (1Fptr around next st, 1Bptr around next st) 8 times, 1Fptr around next st, 1htr in next st, turn ... 19 sts.

2nd Row - Rep 1st Row.

3rd Row - 2ch, miss same st, htr2tog, (1Fptr around next st, 1Bptr around next st) 6 times, 1Fptr around next st, htr2tog, fasten off.

1st Row - Rejoin yarn to marked htr, 1ch, 1htr in same st, (1Fptr around next st, 1Bptr around next st) 6 times, 1Fptr around next st, 1htr in same st as first htr of first row of other side of opening ... 19sts.

Rep 2nd and 3rd Row on opp side, fasten off.

Strap

Using 4 mm hook, make 6ch.

1st Row - Miss 2ch, 1tr in last 4ch, turn ... 4sts.

2nd Row - 2ch, 1tr in same and each st to end.

3rd - 4th Row - Rep 2nd Row.

Join Strap sides together to form a tube -

1st Rnd - 2ch, 2tr in same st, 1tr in each of next 2sts, 2tr in last st, slst into tr at beg of row to form a tube ... 6sts.

2nd Rnd - 2ch, 1tr in same and each st around, slst into tr at beg.

Rep 2nd Rnd until desired length.

Divide for End of Strap -

1st Row - 2ch, dc2tog same and next st, 1tr in each of next 2sts, dc2tog, turn.

2nd Row - 2ch, 1tr in same and each st to end, turn.

3rd - 4th Row - Rep 2nd Row.

Fasten off.

Finishing

DO NOT PRESS. Sew opening of Pouch to Purse Frame. Pass one end of Strap through one Swivel Hook D-Ring, folding end up towards beginning of Strap tube and sew in place. Finish other end of Strap in the same way. Sew in ends.
