Instructions
Step 1
Cut a piece of elastic to the child's waist measurement plus 2cm.
Pin the raw edges together and sew with a 1.5cm seam allowance. Press seam open and fold under each raw end. Top stitch folded ends down.
Measure the base edge into 4 even quarters and mark with safety pins.
Step 2
Cut x4 pieces of plain tulle, each measuring 35cm in height by the width of the tulle.
Layer and pin the 4 pieces together, aligning the top edges. Sew a double row of long running gather stitches across the top edges, first one 5mm in from edge and another row 1cm in from edge.
Measure the top edge into 4 even quarters and mark with safety pins.
Step 3
Cut a piece of printed tulle with sequins, measuring 35cm in height by the width of the tulle.
Sew a double row of long running gather stitches across the top edges, first one 5mm in from edge and another row 1cm in from edge.
Measure the top edge into 4 even quarters and mark with safety pins.
Step 4
Place the printed tulle layer over the plain tulle layers, pinning together at the quarter marked safety pins. Pull gathering stitches in plain tulle layer to same length as top printed tulle layer.
Gather layers together evenly to a total length 20cm longer than waist measurement.
Overlock the top edges together through all layers.
Pin tulle to elastic waistband at the matching quarter safety pins, just up under the base edge of the elastic waistband. Overlap the raw side ends of the tulle at the back of the elastic, aligning with the elastic seam by 5cm.
Sew tulle to elastic using a large zig zag stitch, stretching the elastic to fit the quarter sections as you sew.
