CHRISTMAS NOVELTY FRINGED STOCKINGS

Cutting

From the fabric, cut:

• 2 x Outer Stocking
• 2 x Lining
• 1 x Hanging Loop - 2" x 5"

Constructing the Stocking

Step 1

Fold the 2" x 5" hanging loop strip in half lengthwise and press. Open the strip, then fold both long raw edges into the centre crease and press. Fold in half again to enclose the raw edges and topstitch along the open edge.

Fold the completed strip in half to form the hanging loop and set aside.

Step 2

Place the outer stocking front and outer stocking back right sides together. Position the hanging loop at the top back of the stocking with the raw edges aligned.

Sew around the stocking using a 1/4" (6mm) seam allowance.

Trim the seam allowance, clip the curves, turn right side out and press.

Step 3

Place the lining front and lining back right sides together.

Sew around the stocking using a 1/4" (6mm) seam allowance, leaving a 3-4" (8-10cm) opening along the foot for turning.

Trim the seam allowance and clip the curves.

Step 4

With the outer stocking right side out and the lining wrong side out, place the outer stocking inside the lining so the right sides are together.

Match the side seams and top edges.

Sew around the top opening using a 1/4" (6mm) seam allowance.

Step 5

Turn the stocking right side out through the opening in the lining.

Sew the opening in the lining closed.

Push the lining inside the stocking and press well.

Step 6

Position the Maria George Ombre Fringe around the top opening of the stocking, aligning the trim tape with the top edge. Topstitch in place, overlapping the ends neatly to finish.
