There's something special about decorating your space with homemade Christmas decorations. These creations create a homely and welcoming ambience in your space, perfect for celebrating the festive holiday with your nearest and dearest. Try out our favourite Christmas DIY projects and adorn your space with a homemade charm.

A Classic DIY Decoration For Beginner Crafters: Christmas Paper Chains

Paper chains are lightweight decorations that are incredibly easy to display in any space. When it comes to festive decorations, paper chains are a classic DIY project for many homes, workplaces and even schools. A great project for both beginner crafters and kids looking for a fun activity, our Christmas Paper Chain is a great way to get creative this holiday season. Using Jolly & Joy's Christmas paper pad, the result is an effortless festive decoration ready to be hung in your entranceway, from your mantlepiece or even in the classroom!

With the help of the Crafter Choice basic trimmer and a stapler or paper glue, putting this paper chain together is a breeze. Start by forming a loop with one cut strip and gluing or stapling to secure. Take another strip of any design you like, thread it through the first loop and glue the ends together. Continue until your chain reaches your desired length.

Add a Touch of Colour To Your Display With a Christmas Ribbon Chain Garland

While paper chains are an easy and fun craft activity for festive decorations, paper can often be prone to ripping. Ribbon chains are stronger than paper and able to hold their loop structure a little better. This Christmas, create a colourful decoration that draws attention with the Christmas Ribbon Chain Garland Project.

Beginner friendly, this project is incredibly easy to create. Simply choose your favourite wired edge ribbon and cut into 25cm lengths. Begin your garland by tucking the raw cut edge and staple or hot glue it to close. Thread the next ribbon length through the first loop, again remembering to tuck the raw edge under and secure in place. Continue this process until you reach your desired length. Display your finished project on your mantlepiece, bookshelf or in your entrance way and showcase your creative skills this festive season.

Sculpey Christmas Trees

Christmas craft ideas don't always have to revolve around brightly bold and patterned decorations. Some DIY Christmas decorations are so subtle that they can be incorporated into your home decor all year round. For instance, these Sculpey Christmas Trees create a whimsical twist on classic symbols of Christmas time. An easy project for beginner crafters, simply create cone templates to your height preference and layer your clay atop the template. Play around with the height, maybe creating a small, medium and large template for a dimensional display. You can then use modelling tools to cut out the intricate star shapes.

When all your trees are complete, bake your clay in the oven according to the package instructions. To finish, place your fake tea light inside! Make sure to only use an LED or fake tealight candle, as a real flame will burn the clay and become a fire hazard. Display on your bookshelf, mantlepiece or coffee table and create a Christmas wonderland!
