CHENILLE EASTER BASKET

Instructions

Step 1 - Create the Basket

1. Take 4 chenilles and twist them together 3 times in the centre of the stem (looks like a plus sign with extra arms) and evenly space them out. (this is the base on which the basket will be built)
2. Take a chenille and bend the end of the stem, hooking it over the centre of the base and begin to weave the chenille in and out of the arms of the base. (This will start to create the basket weave)
3. Once you have gotten to the end of the chenille, link another one onto the end by folding a small bit of each of the ends and twisting the chenilles together.
4. Continue weaving and adding chenilles together, while doing so, bend the chenilles upright to create the basket shape.
5. Continue this until achieving the desired basket size.
6. If there are any upright chenilles sticking above your top row, you can choose to cut them off, leaving a small end to be able to fold this over the top of the basket and twist to secure it together. Alternatively, fold the leftover base chenilles down and back into the basket weave.

Step 2 - Create the handle

1. Take 3 chenilles and twist them together all the way down, creating a basket handle
2. Hot glue the 2 ends of the chenille inside the basket to create a handle.

Step 3 - Optional decorations

• Wrap 3 chenilles together and create a topper for the top edge of the basket
• Tie a ribbon on or make a bow to add
• Add pom poms on the top edge of the basket
• Add mini foam shapes, gems, bells, shredded paper
