  2. Review the individual shapes and resize them if required to suit your desired wall hanging size and the felt you have available.
  3. You can also experiment with the colours and arrangement of the shapes to create a look that suits your space.
  4. Once you are happy with your design, click 'Make' in the top toolbar and follow the prompts to connect your Cricut smart cutting machine.

Cut

  1. Place your felt onto the cutting mat, making sure it is smooth and firmly adhered to the mat.
  2. In Design Space, select 'With Mat' as your material load type. Choose the appropriate felt material setting and follow the prompts to load your mat into your Cricut Maker.
  3. Replace the Fine-Point Blade with the Rotary Blade. Follow the prompts and watch as your Cricut machine cut each of the felt shapes.
  4. Once the cut is complete, unload the mat and carefully remove your felt pieces. Keep each colour together so they are easy to identify during assembly.
Tip: Secure the edges of your felt with small pieces of masking tape or washi tape if needed. Keep the tape away from the areas being cut.

Assembly Iron-on

  1. Weed - Remove the negative of the iron-on design from the backing with a weeding tool. Simply hook the weeding tool into the iron-on in an area outside the design, then carefully peel away from backing to reveal your iron on design ready to press on your frames.

Select your Cricut EasyPress model, heat transfer material, and base material. This will provide you with precise instructions for best heat press results. Follow these instructions, place your frames on Cricut heat mat, align the iron-on design (backing up), when you are happy with the placement, press to apply design!
  3. Follow directions for warm or cool peel in heat guide and carefully peel back iron-on backing to reveal your design.

Assembly

  1. Lay out all your cut felt pieces out on a flat surface. Use the project image as a guide to arrange the different shapes, or create your own combination of colours and patterns.
  2. Some of the designs are made up of multiple felt pieces. Position the smaller patterned pieces over their larger base shapes before gluing. Take a moment to check the placement and spacing of each piece.
  3. Warm up your hot glue gun. Apply a small amount of hot glue to the back of each felt piece and carefully press it into place. Continue until all your layered felt pieces are assembled.
Tip: Use small amounts of glue to help prevent it from showing through the felt.
  4. Arrange your completed felt designs into three vertical sections, as shown in the project image. Attach the felt pieces together using small lengths of cord or string, leaving enough space between each piece for them to hang freely.
  5. Tie the top of each hanging section securely to the wooden dowel. Tie the length of cord or string to each end of the wooden dowel. Bring the two ends together at the top to create a simple hanging loop. Trim any excess cord.
