COWBOY BOOT CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS
Instructions
Reference the downloadable project sheet for project pattern diagrams.
Note: This template has been scaled. You will need to print this template at actual size and blow it up by 320% to make it full size.
Step 1 - Prepare the Pieces
Use the template to cut 2 outer fabric pieces.
Cut 2 matching pieces of iron-on fleece.
Cut 2 lining pieces.
Cut an 8" length of ribbon.
Step 2 - Fuse the Fleece
Iron each fleece piece to the wrong side of each outer fabric piece, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Step 3 - Assemble the Outer Boot
Place the 2 outer fabric pieces right sides together.
Pin and sew around the edge with a 1/2" seam allowance, leaving the top edge open.
Clip curves and corners, then turn right side out. Press.
Step 4 - Assemble the Lining
Place the 2 lining pieces right sides together.
Sew around the edge with a 1/4" seam allowance, leaving the top edge open and a 3" opening along the bottom of the boot for turning later.
Do not turn right side out.
Step 5 - Attach the Hanging Tab
Fold the ribbon in half to form a loop.
Pin it to the top edge of the outer boot on the back side seam, with raw edges aligned. Baste in place.
Step 6 - Join Outer Boot and Lining
Insert the outer boot (right side out) into the lining (wrong side out), so right sides are facing.
Align side seams and raw top edges. Pin.
Sew all the way around the top edge with a 1/2" seam allowance.
Step 7 - Turn the Stocking
Pull the boot right side out through the 3" opening in the lining.
Push the lining inside the outer boot and press the top edge neatly.
Hand-stitch or machine-stitch the opening in the lining closed.
Step 8 - Finish
Give the stocking a final press.
Hang by the ribbon loop and enjoy your cowboy-boot-shaped stocking!
