Overview
Easy basic shape where front and back is the same. The cables add a classic look - but this pattern can be used for so many different styles! Suits the intermediate knitter.
Note: Start by making a tension piece. Make sure your tension is correct. If you're a tight knitter, you may have to go up 0.5-1 size larger for the needle. If you're a loose knitter, you might have to go down 0.5 - 1 size smaller for the needle.
Front
Cast on 95-103-112-122-134-148 sts. Knit 1 row. Work rib * K2, P2 * for 7 cm. Continue as follows: Row 1 (RS): K21-25-3-8-14-21 sts, *cable pattern as per graph*, K21-25-3-8-14-21 sts. Row 2: P21-25-3-8-14-21 sts *cable pattern as per graph*, K21-25-3-8-14-21 sts. Continue pattern until piece measures 31-32-33-35-36-37 cm. Cast off 3 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows (sleeves are sewn in here). Continue until piece measures 43-45-47-49-51-53 cm. Change to rib pattern *knit 2, purl 2* and work rib until it measures 7 cm in all sizes. Piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm in total. Cast off in rib.
Back
Work same as front piece.
Sleeve
Cast on 30-34-34-38-38-42 sts.
Work rib *K2, P2* until rib measures 5 cm.
Continue in pattern as follows: 5 rows stocking stitch, 5 rows garter stitch. Repeat this pattern.
When sleeve measures 7 cm in all sizes, increase 1 sts in each side every 4th row until you have = 62-64-68-68-70-74 sts.
Continue until piece measures 46-45-44-42-40-38 cm (shorter measurements in larger sizes based on wider shoulders).
Cast off.
Finish
Sew shoulder seam, leave approx. 26-27-28-29-30-31 cm in the middle for neck.
Sew in sleeves, start where the 3 sts was cast off in each side on front and back piece.
Sew side seams.
