Back

Using 3.25mm needles and C1, cast on 107 (117-129-139) sts.

Beg Lower Band -

Knit in garter st (1st Row is WS), until work measures 4cm from beg, working last row on WS and inc 6sts evenly across ... 113 (123-135-145) sts.

Change to 4mm needles.

Cont working in stocking st until work measures 13.5cm from beg, change to C3.

Beg Stripe patt -

Work 2 rows using C3, change to C2.

Work 6 rows using C2.

Rep last 8 rows 3 times more, change to C3.

Using C3 work 2 rows (end of stripe patt), change to C4 for the remainder.

When work measures 38cm from beg, tie a coloured thread at each end of row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping.

Cont in stocking st, until armholes measure 9.5 (10-10.5-11.5) cm from coloured threads ending with a purl row. **

Work a further 38 (40-40-42) rows stocking st.

Shape Shoulders -

Cast off 10 (11-13-14) sts at beg of next 6 rows, then 12 (13-12-13) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Leave rem 29 (31-33-35) sts on stitch-holder for Neck Edging.

Front

Work as for Back to **.

Divide For V Neck -

1st Row (RS) - K56 (61-67-72), turn.

Cont on these 56 (61-67-72) sts for left side of neck.

*** Dec one st at neck edge in every foll alt row until 45 (49-53-57) sts rem, then in every foll 4th row until 42 (46-51-55) sts rem.

Work 3 rows.

Shape Shoulder -

Cast off 10 (11-13-14) sts at beg of next row, then in every foll alt row twice more.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 12 (13-12-13) sts. ***

Slip next st (centre st), onto a coloured thread and leave for Neck Edging.

With RS facing, join C4 to rem sts and knit to end.

Cont on these 56 (61-67-72) sts for right side of neck.

Rep from *** to ***, working 1 more row before Shoulder shaping.

Sleeves

Using 3.25mm needles and C1, cast on 49 (51-51-53) sts.

Beg Cuff -

Knit in garter st (knit every row) until work measures 5cm from beg, working last row on WS and inc 2sts evenly across ... 51 (53-53-55) sts.

Change to 4mm needles.

Work 24 rows stocking st, inc one st at each end of 3rd row, then in every foll 4th row 5 times ... 63 (65-65-67) sts, ending with a RS row, change to C3.

Working in stripe patt for next 12 rows as set out on Back, inc one st at each end of 3rd row, then in every 4th row twice, ending on a WS row ... 69 (71-71-73) sts, change to C3.

Cont working in stocking stitch, following stripe patt, inc one st at each end in next and foll 6th row. Once stripe patt completed, change to C4 for remainder and cont to increase as before in every 6th row until there are 91 (95-99-103) sts.

Cont without shaping until work measures 43 (44-44-45) cm from beg, ending on a WS row.

Shape Top -

Cast off 13 (14-14-15) sts loosely at beg of next 6 rows.

Cast off rem 13 (11-15-13) sts.

Pockets (make 2 using diff colourways)

Using 4mm needles and C1 (C4), cast on 32sts.

1st Row (RS) - Knit

Cont working in stocking st (next row is purl on WS) until work measures 8cm, ending on a purl (WS) row, change to C3 (C3).

Next Row - Knit.

Change to 3.25mm needles.

Next Row (buttonhole) - P15, yfwd, P2tog, purl to end, change to C1 (C4).

Knit 8 rows.

Cast off, leaving long end for sewing pocket to front.

Neck Edging

Using mattress st, join right Shoulder seam. Using 3.25mm needles and C4, knit up 38 (40-40-42) sts evenly along left side of neck, knit st from coloured thread (centre st), knit up 38 (40-40-42) sts evenly along right side of neck, then knit across 29 (31-33-35) sts from Back stitch-holder ... 106 (112-114-120) sts.

Knit 1 row.

Cast off loosely.

Finishing

DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join left Shoulder and neck edging seam. Sew in Sleeves evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of Sleeves to Shoulder seams. Join side and Sleeve seams matching stripes. Sew pockets in place as pictured, using a flat seam. Place and sew buttons on Front according to pocket buttonholes. Sew in ends.
