Instructions

Reference the downloadable project sheet for project pattern diagrams.

Notes: Work in continuous rounds, placing, removing, and replacing stitch marker on every round to mark end of round. When joining in a new ball, cut, splice and taper both tape ends for approx. 15cm. Cont working by holding tapered ends together which will omit sewing in ends.

Using 7mm hook and Leatherette, make 13ch.

Base

1st Rnd - miss 1ch, 2dc in next ch, 1dc in next 10ch, 3dc in last ch, cont working on opposite side of foundation ch, 1dc in next 10ch, 1dc into first ch at beg, pm on last st (replace on every rnd) ... 26sts.

2nd Rnd - 2dc in next 2sts, 1dc in next 10sts, 2dc in next 3sts, 1dc in next 10sts, 2dc in next st ... 32sts.

3rd Rnd - (1dc in next st, 2dc in next st) twice, 1dc in next 10sts, (1dc in next st, 2dc in next st) 3 times, 1dc in next 10sts, 1dc in next st, 2dc in next st ... 38sts.

4th Rnd - (1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st) twice, 1dc in next 10sts, (1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st) 3 times, 1dc in next 10sts, 1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st ... 44sts.

5th Rnd - (1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st) twice, 1dc in next 10sts, (1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st) 3 times, 1dc in next 10sts, 1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st ... 50sts.

6th Rnd - (1dc in next 3sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st) twice, 1dc in next 10sts, (1dc in next 3sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st) 3 times, 1dc in next 10sts, 1dc in next 3sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st ... 56sts.

Body

Next Rnd - 1dc in each st ... 56sts.

Work another 15 rnds.

Using stitch markers, holding bag to shape according to base, mark two Centre Front & two Centre Back sts.

Button Loop (CB)

Next Rnd - work 1dc in each st to first marker on CB, 1dc in marked st, 10ch, 1dc in next 7sts, pm on last st, 1dc in next 14sts.

Strap First Half

Cont working in rnds over 14sts just worked.

1st Rnd - 1dc in st after last marker on Back, 1dc in next 13sts ... 14sts.

Cont for another 16 rnds, fasten off leaving tail for joining.

Strap Second Half

Using 7mm hook, ch1.

1st Rnd - miss 14sts on Front, 1dc in next 14sts ...14sts,

Cont working in rnds over these 14sts, work another 17 rnds, fasten off.

Button

Using 7mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st Rnd (WS) - 1ch, 6dc in centre of magic ring.

2nd Rnd (WS) - working over sts of previous round again into centre of magic ring, 8dc, fasten off leaving long tail.

Finishing

Strap - Holding both parts of strap so they follow out straight from Body, using mattress st and tail end, sew tog.

Button - Push tail at beg into button, using tail at end and yarn needle, run a gathering st through all sts and pull tight. Cut and splice tail end up to close to button. Using ends separately, sew button in place as marked on CF.

Weave in all ends.
