Introduction

Want to add a personal touch to birthday celebrations? Cricut makes celebrations memorable with unique custom party decor and gifts. Follow this step-by-step tutorial to make a personalised birthday balloon for your special day. It's so quick and easy to customise a balloon with a name, slogan or age with Cricut!

Preparation

1. Design - Open design space link https://design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/688ab77d5341d6843dab54e4. Click 'customise' to open design on 'canvas' tab, so you can resize or change name, slogan or age according to your needs or taste or adjust design to precise measurements for your balloon surface. If you want to change the "Happy Birthday" you can click 'image' on the left tool bar and search for your desired slogan, icon or design. To change the name, you will need to edit the name in the 'Layers' toolbar on the right drop-down of the canvas. Click on the name to edit and use same font or choose your own 'font' from the top toolbar.
2. Add any other elements or text as you wish. When you are happy with your design, click 'make' on top tool bar and follow prompts to connect your Cricut smart cutting machine.

Cut

1. Click 'Material Load Type' dropdown and then Choose 'Without Mat' for Matless Smart Vinyl or 'With Mat' for Vinyl. Then choose your material and follow prompts to load material into your Cricut smart cutting machine. Follow prompts and watch as your Cricut machine cuts out the design. When its finished, unload material and set aside.

Assemble

1. Weed - Remove the negative smart vinyl from the backing with a weeding tool. Simply hook the weeding tool into the vinyl in an area outside the design, then carefully peel it off to reveal your design ready to be transferred onto your balloon.
2. Transfer - Cut transfer tape to size and place carefully over the vinyl name. Turn over the backing and burnish with scraper to ensure transfer tape adheres to the vinyl without any air bubbles. Flip back over and carefully peel back transfer tape low and slow. The vinyl will stick to the transfer tape, ready to be placed onto your balloon!
3. Assemble - Hold the name adhered to transfer tape over the balloon until you are happy with placement, then lay it on the balloon and smooth over the design to apply. Peel back the transfer tape low and slow on an angle, to reveal the message on the balloon, admire your custom birthday balloon!
   Hot Tip: As the balloon is a curved surface, cut slits in the transfer tape around the design to assist with application.
