Creating the Holly and Small Poinsettia

Step 1: Template Cut Out

Print and cut out template A (60x90mm), with the felt positioned in landscape trace 8 template shapes onto the back of the felt sheet. To maximise the sheet trace 2 rows of 4 template pieces. Complete this for the Green Foil, Green Glitter, Red Foil, Red Disco sheets.

Step 2: Felt Shape Arrangement

With the shapes now cut out, group them as pairs as you see fit. In this project we have created holly pairs of mixed green glitter and foil, double glitter and double foil. Similarly, the poinsettia pairs are mixed red foil and red disco, double foil and double disco. You should have 16 pairs of template A.

Step 3: Leaf Preparation

Take your first pair of felt shape cut outs, take the glue gun and apply a small dot on one of the pointed edges of the "V" shape cut out. Take the opposite pointed edge and align with the glue dot edge. This will close the V shape and create a 3D leaf. Repeat this step for both leaves in the pair.

Step 4: Holly/Poinsettia Preparation

Take one completed leaf and apply a dot of glue on top of the crossover felt (where the pointed edges meet). Take your second leaf and align so that both crossovers felt sections are touching. Ensure the top leaf is at an angle to the bottom, creating a layered look.

Tip: Hold the crossover in one hand and use the other to gently bend the leaf back to create a concave shape, in preparation for the Pom Pom.

Step 5: Finishing off Holly/Poinsettia

Take one Pom Pom, apply a dot of glue to the cross over of the top leaf and apply Pom Pom. This will cover the crossover for a seamless finish. Repeat steps 3-5 until you have created 8 holly and 8 small poinsettias.

Tip: Use white Pom Poms for the Poinsettia and red Pom Poms for the Holly.

Creating the Large Poinsettia

Step 1: Template Cut Out

Print and cut out template B (75x120mm), with the felt positioned in portrait trace 4 template shapes onto the back of the felt sheet. To maximise the sheet trace 2 rows of 2 template pieces. Complete this for the Silver and Gold Foil sheets.

Step 2: Leaf Preparation

Take your felt shape cut out, take the glue gun and apply a small dot on one of the pointed edges of the "V" shape cut out (shorter V). Take the opposite pointed edge and align with the glue dot edge. This will close the V shape and create a 3D leaf. Repeat this for all 8 leaf shapes.

Step 3: Poinsettia Preparation

Take a Silver leaf, apply one dot of glue on each side of the crossover line taking one gold leaf and pressing the edge of the gold leaf along the crossover line of the silver leaf. Take another Gold leaf and apply to the opposite side of the crossover line of the silver leaf. Repeat this step again to create 2 halves of the Poinsettia.

Step 4: Finishing off Poinsettia

Take the two remaining leaf shapes and lay them with the crossover ends touching, apply 1 dot of glue on each side of the cross over, you should have four dots. Place the two completed leaf sections from Step 3 onto the two silver leaves creating 1 large Poinsettia.

Creating Wreath

Step 1: Covering the Foam Wreath

Take the Craft Deco Foam Wreath and the 1st packet of hessian ribbon, apply a dot of glue to the back of the wreath and press the edge of the hessian ribbon down. Let the glue cool.

Step 2: Wrapping the Foam Wreath

Once the glue has cooled, begin to wrap the ribbon around the foam wreath, as you wrap ensure you are pulling the ribbon tight. As you wrap around ensure the ribbon edge overlaps as you wrap. 1 packet of ribbon will complete half of the wreath, repeat this step with the second packet. Fasten the edge with glue and let it cool.

Step 3: Decorating Foam Wreath

Take all the felt elements and arrange them onto the wreath, playing with placement and shape first will improve the final design. Once happy with the placement. Take a single element and apply a dot of glue onto the back and press the element firmly onto the wreath.

Tip: Let each element cool before applying another to ensure they remain in place as intended.
