CHRISTMAS FABRIC BON BONS
Level: Beginner
What you'll need (per Bon Bon):
- 35 x 20cm piece of printed Christmas Cotton fabric
- 0.9m of ribbon
- Gutermann Sewing thread
- Sewing machine
- Scissors, Pins, Tape measure/ruler, iron
- 12cm length of cardboard tube (paper towel or wrapping paper inner)
- Optional: 0.4m of Ric Rac trim
Instructions
- Make a narrow hem on the shorter side edges of the fabric piece, by folding in 5mm, then another 5mm. Top stitch hem in place, press flat.
- Optional: Cut 2 x 20cm lengths of Ric Rac trim and pin to fabric piece, parallel and 2cm in from the hemmed ends. Top stitch to fabric through the middle of trim.
- Repeat to create hems on the longer side edges of the fabric piece, by folding in 5mm, then another 5mm. Top stitch hem in place, press flat.
- Lay hemmed fabric piece flat wrong side up. Place desired items into cardboard tube and place in the middle of the fabric. Cut 2 x 45cm lengths of ribbon. Roll fabric around the tube and tightly tie ribbons into a bow around the fabric, tightly against each end of the cardboard roll.
