Pro-Tips for E6000
Ventilation: E6000 is powerful stuff - always work in a well-ventilated area.
Cure Time: While it "tacky-sets" quickly, wait a full 24 to 72 hours before wearing the crown to ensure the heavy wire shapes don't shift.
Cleanup: If you get a "string" of glue on your sparkly mesh, wait for it to dry slightly and then roll it off with your finger - it's easier than trying to wipe it while wet!
Step 1 - Form the Wire Frames
Cut lengths of craft wire and bend them into "petal" or "leaf" shapes. Create at least three large central leaves and two smaller ones for each of the sides.
Leave a small "stem" of extra wire (about 2.5-4cm) at the bottom of each shape - you will use this to secure them to the headband later. Leave a longer amount of wire for the shapes going in the centre of the crown and a smaller amount for the leaves going at the front or sides of the crown.
Tip: Use the cutter in the middle of the Ribtex Long Nose Pliers to cut the wire, and the nose of the pliers to shape the wire.
Step 2 - "Filling" the Leaves
Stretch sparkly ribbon or mesh over the wire frames.
Hand-Sewing: Fold the edges of the ribbon over the wire and use a simple whipstitch or running stitch around the perimeter to tension the fabric. You can also glue if using a heavier weight fabric, so that the glue won't seep through. Hand stitching for organza will avoid glue marks.
Ensure the fabric is taut so it doesn't sag when you add rhinestones. Trim any excess ribbon close to the stitching.
Step 3 - Assembly & Structural Attachment
Position your central leaf on the headband. Use the "stem" of the wire to wrap around the headband tightly.
Repeat with the side leaves, overlapping them slightly to create that layered, organic look.
Once the wires are positioned, apply a generous bead of E6000 over the wire wraps to lock them in place. Let this set for at least an hour before decorating.
Step 4 - Finishing the Headband Base
Wrap your headband tightly with ribbon (pink or gold works best here). This covers the edges of the wires and any glue marks.
Secure the ends of the ribbon to the sides of the headband with a small dab of E6000.
Step 5 - Decorative Detailing
Blossoms: Glue your fabric flowers at the base of the leaves to hide the wire attachments. This creates a seamless transition.
Rhinestones: Using a toothpick or precision tip, apply small dots of E6000 to the mesh and place your rhinestones.
Finishing
Glue smaller rhinestones or beads along the headband itself to unify the design.
