Instructions
Reference the downloadable project sheet for project pattern diagrams.
- Trace Appliqu Pieces
- Using your wolf mask pattern, trace the appliqu details (snout, inner ears, nose, etc.) onto the paper side of the Heat n Bond.
- Cut loosely around each traced shape. - Iron Heat n Bond to Fabric
- Iron the adhesive side of each Heat n Bond piece onto the wrong side of your chosen fabric scraps.
- Let them cool, then cut out the fabric shapes exactly on the lines.
- Peel off the paper backing. - Create the Front Mask Panel
- Cut the front mask base (grey fur cotton) using the full mask shape, including eye holes.
- Arrange your appliqu pieces on the front panel.
- Once you are happy with the layout, iron them down to fuse. - Top-Stitch the Appliqu
- Use a straight stitch (1/8" from edge) to top-stitch around each appliqu shape.
- This secures them in place and adds a finished, decorative outline. - Cut the Back Mask Panel
- Cut an identical shape for the back of the mask, including eye holes.
- This will be stitched directly onto the back of the front panel. - Add the Elastic Strap
- Cut a piece of thin elastic (10-12", adjust for fit).
- Position each end at the sides of the back panel, with the elastic ends facing inward (it will get caught between layers when stitched).
- Pin or baste in place. - Assemble the Mask
- Lay the back panel flat against the wrong side of the front panel, sandwiching the elastic ends between the two layers.
- Align all edges and eye holes. - Sew the Mask Together
Stitch around the entire outer edge and eye holes using a 1/8" straight stitch, securing the front and back together.
