Instructions

Note: The nature of the stitch pattern used does not allow for standard ease measurements for every size. Please take note of the varying "Actual Size" measurements and pick the size most suited to your requirements. Garment shown is size 'Two'.

Back

Using 6.50mm needles and C1, cast on 40 (60) sts.

Beg Lower Band -

Knit 3 rows garter st (1st row is WS).

Beg Patt -

1st Step (RS) - * K2, turn, P2, turn, K3, turn, P3, turn, cont in this manner working one more st until "P9, turn," has been completed, K10, DO NOT TURN, leave sts on right-hand needle (one triangle complete), rep from * to end.

2nd Step (WS) - Using C2, inc purlways in next st, P2tog, turn, K3, turn, inc purlways in next st, P1, P2tog, turn, K4, cont in this manner working a purlways inc in first st, an additional purl st, then P2tog on every WS row until there are 10sts on right-hand needle, DO NOT TURN, leave sts on right-hand needle, ** with WS facing, pick up 10sts evenly purlways (from back of work to front of work) along side edge of triangle, slip 10th st back onto left-hand needle and P2tog with first st of next triangle, turn, * K10 turn, P9, P2tog with next st of next triangle, rep from * until 10sts for next triangle have been worked, DO NOT TURN, leave these 10sts on right-hand needle, rep from ** across row to side edge of last triangle, pick up 9sts evenly purlways along side edge, turn, K9, turn, P7, P2tog, turn, K8, turn, cont in this manner, working a P2tog at end of every WS row until 1st rem, turn.

3rd Step - Using C1, K1, knit up 9sts evenly along edge of first half rectangle, K1 from next rectangle pass last st worked over, turn, * P10, turn, K9, sl1, K1 from rectangle psso, turn, rep from * until all 10sts from rectangle have been worked and there are 10sts on right-hand needle, DO NOT TURN, leave 10sts on right-hand needle, knit up 10sts evenly along side edge of next rectangle, rep from * to end of row.

Note - After first rep of 2nd step, sts will be picked up along side edge of rectangle, NOT triangle.

Rep 2nd and 3rd Steps 3 more times ... 4 reps in all.

Final Step - Using C2, inc purlways in next st, P2tog, turn, K3, turn, inc purlways in next st, P1, P2tog, turn, K4, cont in this manner working a purlways inc in first st, an additional purl st, then P2tog on every WS row until there are 6 sts on right-hand needle, turn, leave sts on right-hand needle, P2tog, P3, P2tog, turn, K5, turn, P2tog, P2, P2tog, turn, K4, turn, P2tog, P1, P2tog, turn, K3, turn, (P2tog) twice, turn, K2, turn, P2tog, DO NOT TURN, 1st on right-hand needle, * pick up 10sts evenly purlways along side edge of next rectangle, turn, K11, turn, P2tog, P8, P2tog, turn, K10, turn, P2tog, P7, P2tog, turn, K9, turn, cont in this manner until "K2, turn", has been worked, P3tog, DO NOT TURN, 1st rem on right-hand needle, rep from * across to last triangle space, pick up 10sts evenly purlways, turn, K11, turn, P2tog, P7, P2tog, turn, K9, turn, P2tog, P5, P2tog, turn, K7, turn, cont in this manner until "K3, turn", has been worked, P3tog ... 1st.

Fasten off.

Fronts (make 2 pieces)

Using 6.50mm needles and C1, cast on 20 (30) sts.

Work as for Back.

Sleeves

Using 5.50mm needles and C1, cast on 40sts.

Beg Cuff -

Knit 3 rows garter st (1st Row is WS).

Change to 6.50mm needles.

Beg Patt -

Work in patt as for Back, rep 2nd and 3rd Steps twice more only ... 3 reps in all.

Neck Edging

Using mattress st, join Shoulder seams for 8 (17) cm from each side edge of Back and Fronts. Using 5.50mm needles and C1, knit up 13 (14) sts evenly along top of Right Front, 27 (28) sts evenly along Back neck, then 13 (14) sts evenly along top of Left Front ... 53 (56) sts.

Knit 4 rows.

Cast off on WS.

Right Front Band

Using 5.50mm needles and C1, knit up 81sts evenly along Right Front and side of neck edging.

1st Row (WS) - Knit.

2nd Row - K2, cast off 2sts, (K13, cast off 2sts) 5 times, K2.

3rd Row - K2, turn, cast on 2sts, turn, (K13, turn, cast on 2sts, turn) 5 times, K2 ... 6 buttonholes in all.

Knit 1 row.

Cast off loosely.

Left Front Band

Using 5.50mm needles and C1, knit up 81sts evenly along side edge of neck edging and Left Front edge.

Knit 4 rows garter st.

Cast off loosely.

Finishing

DO NOT PRESS. Tie a coloured thread 23cm down from Shoulder seam on each side edge of Back and Fronts. Using mattress st, sew in Sleeves evenly between coloured threads, placing centre of Sleeves to Shoulder seam. Join side and Sleeve seams. Sew on buttons. Block to shape and measurements if desired.
