Instructions

Crown

Using 3 mm hook and C1, make 112 (119-126) ch, join with a slst to form a ring, taking care not to twist foundation ch.

1st Rnd - 1ch, 1dc in each ch to end, slst in dc at beg.

Rep last Rnd 3 (5-7) times more.

Fasten off C1, join in C2 with a slst.

Next Rnd - 1ch, 1dc in same st as slst, 1ch, *miss next st, 1dc in next st, 1ch, rep from * to end, slst in dc at beg, DO NOT fasten off C2 (carried up inside crown), join in C3 with a slst in first ch-sp.

Next Rnd - 3ch (counts as first tr), 1tr in same ch-sp, 2tr in each ch-sp to end, slst in 3^rd ch at beg, fasten off C3, join C2 with a slst.

Next Rnd - 1ch, 1dc in same st as slst, 1dc in space between each tr of previous Rnd, slst in dc at beg, DO NOT fasten off C2, join C4 with a slst.

Next Rnd - 1ch, 1dc in same st as slst, miss 2sts, 7tr in next st, miss 2sts, 1dc in next st, *1dc in next st, miss 2sts, 7tr in next st, miss 2sts, 1dc in next st, rep from * to last st, 1dc in next st, change to C1, slst in dc at beg ... 16 (17-18) crown palisades, fasten off C4.

Next Rnd - Using C1, 1ch, *1dc below (into centre of dc two rnds below of C2), 1tr in next 3sts, 3tr in next st, 1tr in next 3sts, rep from * to end, change to C2, slst in dc at beg, fasten off C1.

Next Rnd - Using C2, 1ch, *1dc into centre of dc of previous rnd, 1tr in next 5sts, 3ch, slst in top of last tr, 1tr in next 4sts, rep from * to end of rnd, slst in dc at beg, fasten off.

Finishing

Sew in all ends. Using a moist cloth and iron on 'wool' setting, press Crown on WS and let it cool down. For a stiffer finish, sugar-water solution, cornstarch mixture or diluted white craft clue can be applied.
