BORN TO BE WOOL BEANIE AND SNOOD
Level: Intermediate
What you'll need:
- Abbey Road Born To Be Wool 100g Yarn Balls:
- Nude x 3
- Size 15mm knitting needles
- Yarn needle, scissors, tape measure
Measurements
Beanie: Finished size (flat lay) approx. 48cm x 25cm to fit Adult Head
Snood: Finished size approx. 68cm x 22cm
Tension
8sts x 11 rows to 10cm in Twist Stitch patt, using 15mm knitting needles
Instructions
Special Abbreviations / Stitches
RT - Right Twist: Insert needle through front of second stitch on left-hand needle and pull up a loop without slipping off the stitch, then insert needle through front of first stitch on needle, pull through a loop and slip off both stitches together.
LT - Left Twist: Insert needle into back of second stitch on left-hand needle and pull up a loop without slipping off the stitch, then insert needle through front of first stitch, pull up a loop and slip off both stitches together.
SSK - Slip, Slip Knit: (Slip next st knitwise) twice, then knit these 2sts together.
Beanie
Using 15mm needles, cast on 38sts.
1st Row (RS) - Knit
2nd Row - K1, Purl to last st, K1, turn.
3rd Row - K1, *K1, RT, LT, K1*, rep from *to* to last st, K1, turn.
4th Row - K1, *K1, P4, K1*, Rep from *to* to last st, K1, turn.
1st - 4th Row form patt. Rep patt 5 times more, ending with a 4th Row.
Crown shaping -
Next Row (RS) - K1, *K2tog, SSK*, rep from *to* to last st, K1, turn ... 26sts.
Next Row - K1, purl to last st, K1, turn.
Next Row - K1, *RT, LT*, rep from *to* to last st, K1, turn.
Next Row - K1, purl to last st, K1, turn.
Next Row - K1, *K2tog, SSK*, rep from *to* to last st, K1 ... 14sts.
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail. Using yarn needle, thread tail and run through all sts on needle and pull tight.
Finishing
DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress stitch sew seam. Sew in ends. Make a Pompom using left over yarn and attach to Beanie.
Snood
Using 15mm needles, cast on 50sts.
1st Row (RS) - Knit
2nd Row - K1, Purl to last st, K1, turn.
3rd Row - K1, *K1, RT, LT, K1*, rep from *to* to last st, K1, turn.
4th Row - K1, *K1, P4, K1*, Rep from *to* to last st, K1, turn.
1st - 4th Row form patt. Rep patt 4 times more.
Work 1st - 3rd Row once more.
Shaping -
Next Row (WS) - K2tog, *P4 K2tog*, rep from *to* to end of row ... 42sts, turn.
Next Row - K3, *K2tog, K3*, rep from *to* to end of row ...34sts.
Cast off loosely, leaving long tail for sewing.
Finishing
DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress stitch sew seam, Sew in ends.
