Instructions

Using 4.50mm needles, cast on 159 sts.

Beg Rib

1st Row (RS) - K3, * P3, K3, rep from * to end.

2nd Row - P3, * K3, P3, rep from * to end.

Rep 1st and 2nd Row until work measures 5.5cm from beg, ending with a 1st Row (RS) and inc one st in centre of last row ... 160 sts.

Beg Patt

1st Row (WS) - K6, * P3, K2, P3, K6, rep from * to end.

2nd Row - P6, * K3, P2, K3, P6, rep from * to end.

3rd Row - P9, K2, * P12, K2, rep from * to last 9 sts, P9.

4th Row - K9, P2, * K12, P2, rep from * to last 9 sts, K9.

5th Row - P2, K2, * P12, K2, rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.

6th Row - K2, P2, * K12, P2, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

7th Row - P2, K2, * P3, K6, P3, K2, rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.

8th Row - K2, P2, * K3, P6, K3, P2, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

9th Row - As 5th Row.

10th Row - As 6th Row.

11th Row - As 3rd Row.

12th Row - As 4th Row.

1st to 12th Row incl form patt.

Cont in patt until work measures approx 78.5cm from beg, ending with a 2nd Row and dec one st in centre of last row ... 159 sts.

Beg Rib

Work same amount of rib rows (as before), beg with a 2nd Row.

Cast off in rib.

Armhole Bands

Along side edge, place a coloured thread 15cm in from each end. With RS facing and using 4.50mm needles, knit up 93sts evenly between coloured threads.

Work 5 rows rib (as before), beg with a 2nd Row.

Cast off in rib. Repeat on other side.

Finishing

DO NOT PRESS. Fold shrug in half (so cast on and cast off edges meet). Join side edges from cast on/cast off ends to beg of armhole bands. Join armhole bands.
