HALLOWEEN CUSHIONS
Level: Beginner
What you'll need:
- 1 m x 112 cm wide fabric
- Approximately 2 m pom pom trim
- 50 x 50 cm cushion insert
- Coordinating sewing thread
Finished Size
50 x 50 cm
Instructions
Cutting
- Cut 1 cushion front, 50 x 50 cm.
- Cut 2 back pieces, 50 x 35 cm.
(Includes a 1 cm seam allowance)
- On each back piece, finish one long edge by folding the raw edge under 1 cm, then another 1 cm. Press and stitch close to the folded edge to create a hem.
- Position the pom pom trim around the right side of the cushion front, aligning the trim tape with the raw edges and the pom poms facing towards the centre of the cushion. Baste the trim in place, mitring the corners neatly as you go.
- Place one back piece right side down on the cushion front, aligning the raw edges along one side. Position the second back piece right side down on the opposite side so the hemmed edges overlap to create an envelope opening.
- Pin or clip all layers together.
- Stitch around all four sides using a 1 cm seam allowance.
- Trim the corners to reduce bulk, taking care not to cut through the stitching.
- Turn the cushion cover right side out through the envelope opening and push the corners out neatly.
- Insert the 50 x 50 cm cushion insert through the envelope opening.
