HALLOWEEN HAIR BOWS
Instructions
Cutting
- Cut 1 bow piece measuring 12 1/2" x 9".
- Cut 1 centre piece measuring 3" x 5".
- Cut 1 piece of iron-on fleece measuring approximately 6" x 4".
- Fold the bow piece in half, right sides together, matching the 12 1/2" edges. Stitch along the 12.5" raw edge using a 1 cm seam allowance to create a tube.
- Press the seam open, then position the seam in the centre of one side of the tube rather than on the folded edge.
- Following the manufacturer's instructions, fuse the iron-on fleece to the wrong side of the tube, centring it on the side opposite the seam to add body to the front of the bow.
- Turn the tube right side out.
- Fold the tube in half, right sides together, matching the short ends. Ensure the seam from Step 1 is positioned on the outside of the fold. Stitch across the raw edges using a 1 cm seam allowance.
- Turn the bow right side out so all seams are enclosed and position the seam at the back of the bow.
- Gather the centre of the bow and secure with a few hand stitches.
- Hand sew the metal hair clip to the back of the bow.
- Fold the centre piece in half lengthwise and press. Open and fold the long raw edges into the centre. Fold in half again and press.
- Wrap the centre piece around the gathered centre of the bow. Trim away any excess fabric and hand stitch the ends together securely at the back of the bow.
