Instructions

Reference the downloadable project sheet for project pattern diagrams.

  1. Prep the surface with a tablecloth. Wash the glass jar with warm soapy water. Allow to dry completely before starting project.
  2. Apply 2-3 coats of paint to each jar. Allow drying time between coats. Ensure each layer has been applied thinly. You do not need full coverage for this paint to work. Paint will remain partly transparent. Ensure paint brush is washed and dried between colours.
  3. Paint the lid of the jar in FolkArt Matte Pure Black acrylic paint.
  4. Lightly draw the design onto the front of each jar with pencil. Use the templates as a guide to follow or create your own spooky squad. Trace over the design with the Kent Urban Acrylic Paint Marker in black.
  5. Charging your paint: Charge by exposing the painted jars in direct sunlight or using a UV blacklight for 5 to 30 minutes. UV light provides the fastest, strongest charge, while sunlight acts as a powerful natural source. While it can charge quickly, 30 minutes of exposure to light is recommended for the longest-lasting, brightest glow.
