METALLIC FABRIC CHRISTMAS STAR ORNAMENTS

Metallic Fabric Christmas Star Ornaments Project

Level: Beginner

What you'll need:

Makes 24 stars

Instructions

Stars Blocks

  1. To make a star, take six diamond EPP paper pieces and cover with them with a selection of fabrics using a glue pen.
  2. Hand-stitch together the six diamonds to create your star. Press with iron firmly and remove the papers. Press again making sure to press open the seams that run down the middle to the centre and to fix the outer seams back in place.
  3. Repeat this process until you have created 24 star ornaments.
  4. From the felt, cut 12 x 25cm squares from each colour.
  5. From the gold cord, cut 24 x 20cm lengths.
  6. Pin a star onto each of the squares of felt and stitch them down using your sewing machine, catching under the corner ears as you go. Leave one star point unstitched, so you can stuff some Hobby Fill into this opening. You will also need to stitch the gold cord into one of the downward V sections.
  7. When all the stars are sewn to the backgrounds, lightly stuff with the Hobby Fill and stitch the remaining star point down by machine. Trim the felt around the Star, leaving a little 1/8" edge of felt visible. To finish your star, stitch a button to the centre to secure.
