Special Abbreviations / Stitches

dc2tog - double crochet 2sts together - *insert hook in next st, yoh and pull up a loop*, rep in next st ... 3 loops on hook, yoh and pull through all loops on hook.

Note: A smaller hook than recommended on the product has been used to achieve firm tension. Parts are worked in continuous rounds. Place stitch marker on last stitch of first round, remove and replace on every round. Arms, Legs & Head are worked onto Body in anticlockwise order.

Front

Using MC and 4.50mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st Rnd - 8dc, place marker on last st ... 8sts.

2nd Rnd - 2dc in each st around ... 16sts.

3rd Rnd - *1dc in next st, 2dc in next st*, rep to end of rnd ... 24sts.

4th Rnd - *1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st*, rep to end of rnd ... 32sts.

5th Rnd - *1dc in next 3sts, 2dc in next st*, rep to end of rnd ... 40sts.

6th Rnd - *1dc in next 4sts, 2dc in next st*, rep to end of rnd ... 48sts.

2nd Rnd - (dc2tog, 1dc in next 18sts, dc2tog) twice ... 40sts.

Large Spikes (make 5) -

Using C1 and 4.50mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st Rnd - 4dc, pm on last st.

2nd Rnd - (1dc in next st, 2dc in next st) twice ... 6sts.

3rd Rnd - (1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st) twice ... 8sts.

4th Rnd - (1dc in next 3sts, 2dc in next st) twice ... 12sts.

5th Rnd - 1dc in each st ... 12sts, fasten off.

Small Spikes (make 2) -

As large Spikes up to 4th Rnd ... 12sts. Do not fasten off yarn on 2nd Small Spike, pm on last st.

Join Spikes -

Next Rnd - Cont with yarn attached to 2nd Small Spike, 1dc in next 6sts, (1dc in next 6sts of Large Spike) 5 times, 1dc in next 12sts of 1st Small Spike, (1dc in next 6sts of Large Spike) 5 times, 1dc in next 6sts of 2nd Small Spike ...84sts, all Spikes joint.

Next Rnd - 1dc in next 5sts, (dc2tog, 1dc in next 4sts) 5 times, dc2tog, 1dc in next 10sts, (dc2tog, 1dc in next 4sts) 5 times, dc2tog, 1dc in next 5sts ... 72sts.

Next Row - 1dc in next 36sts (leaving next 36sts unworked).

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Moustache (make 2 sides)

Using C1 and 4.50mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st Rnd - 4dc, pm on last st ... 4sts.

2nd Rnd - (1dc in next st, 2dc in next st) twice ... 6sts.

3rd Rnd - (1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st) twice ... 8sts.

4th & 5th Rnd - 1dc in each st ... 8sts.

6th Rnd - (dc2tog) 4 times ... 4sts.

Fasten off, leaving tail for sewing.

Nose

Using C3 and 4.50mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st Rnd - 4dc, pm on last st ... 4sts.

2nd Rnd - 2dc in each st around ... 8sts.

3rd Rnd - 1dc in each st ...8sts.

4th Rnd - (dc2tog) 4 times ... 4sts.

Fasten off, leaving tail for sewing.

Belt

Using C2 and 4.50mm hook, make 41ch.

1st Row - 1dc in second ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end, turn ... 40sts.

2nd & 3rd Row - 1ch, 1dc in each st, turn ... 40sts.

Fasten off, leaving tail for sewing.

Belt Buckle

Using C3 and 4.50mm hook, make 20ch, slst in 1st at beg creating a loop.

1st Rnd - 1ch, 1dc in each st, slst in 1st st at beg ... 20sts.

Fasten off, leaving tail for sewing.

Finishing

Using yarn ends attached, stitch joints closed between all parts of Body. Using yarn end attached, overstitch Beard opening while pushing loose ends between layers as stuffing. Place and stitch Beard (with slanted edge onto Head), Nose and Moustache on Head. Place and stitch Belt over Front of Body. Mould Belt Buckle over Belt and sew in place. Embroider Eyes and Brows. Sew in loose ends.
