Special Abbreviations / Stitches

dc2tog - double crochet 2sts tog = insert hook UNDER FRONT LOOPS ONLY of next 2sts to be worked together yoh, pull up a loop, yoh and pull through both loops on hook.

Note: All parts are worked in continuous rounds. Place stitch marker on last stitch of first round, remove and replace on every round. Start and continuously keep stuffing each part while working on them.

Helpful Hints For Assembly

Head Parts: Adding a temporary marking thread indicating centre of Head helps with positing all parts like Nose, Ears & Antlers. Sew parts with only a few stitches loosely in desired position without fastening off. Repeat on all parts on the Head. Start sewing parts in place securely with a second or third round, if necessary, slightly reposition in place. Once all parts have been securely sewn in in place, sew in all ends and remove marking thread on Head.

Body Parts: As with any parts to be secured, just attach with a few loose stitches to Body and secure by sewing around joints again once desired position is achieved.

Sew Head To Body: Ensure to keep adding Fibre Fill to Neck while sewing Head to Body so Neck will be firmly stuffed to keep Head upright.

Body

Using 5mm hook and MC, make a magic ring.

1st Rnd - 6dc, place marker (pm) on last st.

2nd Rnd - 2dc in each st around ... 12dc

3rd Rnd - *1dc in next st, 2dc in next st*, rep to last st ... 18sts.

4th Rnd - *1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st*, rep to last st ... 24sts

5th Rnd - *1dc in next 3sts, 2dc in next st*, rep to last st ... 30sts.

6th Rnd - *1dc in next 4sts, 2dc in next st*, rep to last st ... 36sts.

7th Rnd - *1dc in next 5sts, 2dc in next st*, rep to last st ... 42sts.

Short Antler

**1st Rnd - 6dc in ring, place marker in last st.

2nd Rnd - 2dc in each st around ... 12sts.

3rd Rnd - *1dc in next st, 2dc in next st*, rep to last st ... 18sts**.

Work 5 rnds, 1dc in each st, fasten off.

Long Antler

Rep from **to** of Short Antler ... 18sts.

Work 8 rnds, 1dc in each st, DO NOT fasten off, cont in joining Antlers.

Joining Antlers

Holding Short Antler in front, working through loops closest tog on both parts, 1dc in next 5sts (joint), cont working on Long Antler only, 1dc in next 13sts, cont onto Small Antler, 1dc in next 13sts ... 26sts, pm on last st.

Next Rnd - (1dc in next 2sts, dc2tog) 3 times, dc2tog, (1dc in next 2sts, dc2tog) 3 times ... 18sts.

Work 6 rnds, 1dc in each st, slst in next st, fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.

Ears (make 2)

Using 5mm hook and MC, make a magic ring.

1st - 4th Rnd - rep as for Body ... 24sts.

5th Rnd - *1dc in next 3dc, 2dc in next dc*, rep to last st ... 30sts, slst in next 2sts, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew in tail at beg. With WS facing, using tail at end, fold towards centre and secure, creating a fold. With fold at lower end and WS facing, fold ear from side to side and secure with a stitch, creating base for ear to be attached to Head.

Nose

Using 5mm hook and C1, make a magic ring.

1st - 5th Rnd - rep as for Body ... 30sts.

6th Rnd - 1dc in each st around ... 30sts.

7th Rnd - *1dc in next 3sts, dc2tog* rep to end ... 24sts.

8th Rnd - *1dc in next 2sts, dc2tog*, rep to end ... 18sts, slst in next st, fasten off leaving long tail.

Tail

Using 5mm hook and MC, make a magic ring.

1st Rnd - 3dc in ring.

2nd Rnd - 2dc in each st around ... 6sts.

3rd Rnd - *1dc in next st, 2dc in next st*, rep around ... 9sts.

4th Rnd - *1dc in next 2sts, 2dc in next st*, rep around ... 12sts.

Work 2 rnds, 1dc in each st, slst in next st, fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Finishing

Stuff Body firmly. Stuff Arms & Legs leaving 2cm without stuffing and oversew openings. Turn Body so the colour changes on stripes are under one arm, place Arms and Legs on Body and firmly stitch in place.

Stuff Nose and sew in place. Place Ears on Head and stitch in place. Stuff Antlers and stitch in place behind Ears. Using C3, embroider eyes and philtrum on Head as per image.

Pin and sew Head to Body. Oversew Tail (no stuffing) and sew to Back on Body.
