FABRIC RUFFLE WREATH

Fabric Ruffle Wreath Project

Level: Beginner

What you'll need:

Instructions

Step 1

Cut off visible printed selvedge, if applicable.

Cut 2, 35cm wide x WOF pieces.

With right sides together, sew one shorter end together to create one long strip.

Press seam open.

With right sides together, fold and sew along the long edge.

Turn your strip the right way - you should now have one long tubular strip.

Press flat.

If required, hem the shorter edges.

Step 2

To create the channel, fold your fabric in half to find the middle point.

Measure the hoop in the centre, and add additional space on either side (don't make it too tight, otherwise it is difficult to thread the hoop through). Pin or mark the length of fabric (or use a sewing guide when sewing). Sew down the length on both sides of the hoop to create the channel pocket through the centre of the fabric.

Step 3

Open the embroidery hoop, and place the inner hoop to one side (this project only uses the outer ring with the adjustment screw). Open and remove the screw and thread the hoop through the channel, gathering the fabric as you go.

Once all the fabric is on the hoop, screw it back together and adjust the fabric to your liking.

Have a play with the widths and lengths of fabric, to create smaller or larger ruffles.
