  1. Using an iron, fuse the glue side down of the Vlieosofix paper to the back of the contrast fabric. Using a pencil/marker, draw the initial letter onto the paper in reverse.
Tip: Use a computer to print out the letter in large format and in reverse on an A4 sheet of paper.
  2. Cut out initial letter.
  3. With wrong sides facing, fold fabric in half across the width, aligning the long side edges.
  4. Peel off paper backing from the back of cut out letter and place letter glue side down onto the right side of the folded fabric in desired location. Remember to take into account that there will be a 1cm seam allowance on the raw edges if you are centring the letter across the width.
  5. Fuse initial letter to fabric using an iron. Top stitch around all edges of the letter 3mm in from the outer edges.
  6. Open fabric back out and overlock all edges of the Christmas fabric.
  7. With right sides facing, fold fabric in half across the width, aligning the long side edges.
  8. Starting at the top, with a 1cm seam allowance, sew down 5cm, leave a 2cm gap, then sew down the rest of the side and along the base edges. Press seams open.
  9. Fold over 4.5cm along the top edge of fabric to create the casing for the piping cord, press flat. Pin and sew casing in place 3.5cm down from the folded pressed top edge.
  10. Turn the sack the right way out, press flat.
  11. With the help of a safety pin, thread the piping cord through the casing. Tie the ends of the piping cord together into a tight knot.
