Mouse Apron Template

Mouse Ears Headband
Note: This template is at scale.
Headband
Step 1
From the template provided, cut out:
- 1x outer headband piece on the fold from polar fleece - brown
- 2x inner headband pieces from polar fleece - brown
- 4x outer ear pieces from polar fleece - brown
- 2x inner ear pieces from polar fleece - soft pink
Step 2
To create ears, layer two outer ears pieces together, wrong sides facing. Sew layers together around outer edges.
Pin inner ear piece on top of outer ear, aligning base edges. Top stitch inner ear to outer ear around outer edges.
Step 3
With wrong sides facing, pin two inner headband pieces onto the ends of the outer headband piece. Sew pieces together using a 6mm seam allowance.
Trim and clip seam and turn ends right way out. Insert the ends of plastic headband into the sewn fabric ends.
Step 4
Bring the raw edges of the fleece into the middle of the underside of the headband. Pin in place.
Insert & pin the base ends of ears in between the fleece edges at the back of the headband. Try on and move ears into desired position. Once happy, glue ears in position, then glue or hand sew raw fleece edges closed to fully enclose the headband.
Mouse Smock
Step 1
From the template provided, cut out:
- 2x apron smock pieces from brown polar fleece
- 1x mouse tummy front from white polar fleece
Pin the white tummy piece to the front of one of the smock fleece pieces as per indicated on the template. Top stitch in place 3-5mm in front outer edge.
Step 2
From the poly webbing tape, cut:
- 2x lengths measuring 75cm each
- 2x lengths measuring 8cm each
Fold the smaller 8cm lengths into loops, baste raw edges together. Aligning the raw edges, pin loops onto the right side of the smock piece with the tummy piece, on the side edges, 2cm down from top edge. Sew in place 1cm in from sides.
Step 3
Aligning the raw edges, pin each of the longer 75cm lengths onto the right side of the smock piece with the tummy piece, in the middle of the top shoulder edges. Sew in place 1cm in from top edge.
Hem the other raw edge of the tape lengths with a narrow hem, or tie into a tight knot.
Step 4
Cut 2x pieces from pink polar fleece each measuring 50cm long by 4cm wide.
With right side facing, pin pieces together. Trim one of the shorter ends into a pointed curve. Sew layers together along the two long edges and the curved short end with a 5/6mm seam allowance. Leave the straight end open for turning out.
Trim seam and clip curve end. Turn fabric right way out. Baste raw edges together.
Aligning raw edges, pin the tail to the front of the smock piece just below the webbing tape loop on the right-side edge. Sew in place.
Step 5
With right sides facing, pin the two smock fleece pieces together, enclosing the webbing tape and tail. Sew pieces together with a 15mm seam, leaving a 15cm opening along the base edge towards the back.
Trim and clip seams. Turn smock right way out through the opening. Turn the seam allowance of the opening to the inside and hand sew opening closed.
Top stitch around all of the outer edges of the smock, 1cm in from outer edge.
Step 6
Cross the shoulder straps over at the back and thread each end through the loops on the sides of the smock. Once the smock is on child, tighten straps and tie ends into a bow.
