Spotlight's Plain 112 cm Cotton Linen Fabric is a splendid choice if you're looking for a versatile material to create garments for the warmer months. Because there are several colour choices in this range, it's a perfect option for mixing and matching. Create single or block coloured garments such as tops, shirts, dresses and skirts. Linen is a timeless classic that can be used for both dressy and casual clothing. You can even use this cotton linen in home décor projects! Supplied in a 112 cm width and composed of 55% cotton and 45% linen, these fabrics are breathable and can be used in a multitude of dressmaking projects. When linen is blended with cotton, it crushes less than 100% linen and makes it even easier to sew. Finish your garments with interesting zips, buttons or eyelets from the haberdashery section in-store or online!

Follow the grain line of the fabric when laying out pattern pieces prior to cutting.
Scissors are ideal for cutting most linens, a rotary cutter may be beneficial for thicker linen blends.
Accurate marking is essential for your linen pattern, use marking pencils and tracing paper to detail features such as darts or pleats.
Use pins to hold your pattern together for sewing.
Linen and linen blends are easy to sew, use a basic thread for sewing.
Use a new universal needle: 90/15 or 100/16.
Sew with a shorter stitch length.
Serging or zig zag stitch can be beneficial for seams.
Press as you go when sewing your linen pattern for a professional finish.
