Can I purchase sewing equipment at Spotlight?

Yes, Spotlight offer a large range of different types of sewing equipment including sewing machines and accessories, sewing storage and lighting, dressmaking models and much more. With so many different types of sewing equipment to choose from, you will find everything you need here in one convenient place.

What type of sewing machines can I find at Spotlight?

You can find every type of sewing machine here, from basic models that are ideal for beginners or people who only need the basic functionalities of a sewing machine, right up to models with features such as embroidery stitches, automatic button holes and much more. With sewing machines from various well-known manufacturers, you can choose the model that suits your requirements, sewing skills and budget, there are also overlockers on offer.

What are overlockers?

An overlocker is a sewing machine that stitches with either 3, 4 or 5 threads at the same time. They are mainly used to join seams, trim off excess fabric and stop the cut edges from fraying, all in one simple operation. If you do a lot of sewing and require a professional looking finish, an overlocker is a great investment. The stitch pattern of an overlocker allows for an incredible amount of stretch, which makes it useful when sewing knitted fabrics like jersey. Some overlocker machines also allow you to achieve a variety of fancy edges or hems, like rolled hems that you sometimes see on silk dresses.

What types of dressmaking models are on offer at Spotlight?

At Spotlight, you will have a choice of several types of dressmaking models, also sometimes referred to as “dummies”. Which type is best for you depends on a few things, such as:

Do you sew for yourself alone? Then you won’t need a model that allows for many adjustments.

Are you a fairly standard size? If you are larger, or taller, than most standard dress-sizes, take this into account when choosing a dressmaking model.

Do you sew for a living? Then you will probably want to choose a model that can easily be adjusted for the various sizes of your customers.

What else is included in the sewing equipment range?

This is where you will find useful items such as spare parts for your sewing machine, as well as additional features such as special sewing feet, special bobbin cases and handy tools to maintain your sewing machine. You can also find strong, directional lights here that are ideal to ensure that you get sufficient lighting on your sewing or craft projects, regardless of where in the house you are working. This can be of great benefit in the winter, or when you need to do precise work or have to deal with tiny stitches, and the light on your sewing machine alone is not powerful enough.
