LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 4 Seasons Pure Wool Entwine 100g x 1 ball
  • Main Colour (M) and 1 ball Contrast Colour (C).
  • 1 pair 4mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension
  • 4 stitch holders
  • A 30cm calico Teddy Bear
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using 4mm needles and M, cast on 49 sts.

Beg Lower Band

1st row (RS) - K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.
2nd row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end. Last 2 rows form rib. Work a further 2 rows rib, inc one st in centre of last row ... 50 sts, 4 rows rib in all. Work 18 rows stocking st.

Shape Raglan Armholes -

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 46 sts. Dec one st at each end of next row, then in foll 6th row
once ... 42 sts. Dec one st at each end of every foll 4th row until 36 sts rem. Work 1 row. Leave rem 36 sts on a stitch-holder for neckband.

FRONT

Using 4mm needles and M, cast on 41 sts.

Beg Lower Band -

Work 4 rows rib as for lower band of Back, inc one st in centre of last row ... 42 sts. Work 18 rows stocking st.

Shape Raglan Armholes -

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 38 sts. Dec one st at each end of next row, then in foll 6th
row once ... 34 sts. Work 5 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

Shape Neck -

1st row (RS) - K2tog, K5, turn. Cont on these 6 sts for left side of front neck.
** Dec one st at raglan edge in foll 6th row once,AT SAME TIME dec one st at neck edge in every foll
alt row 3 times ... 2 sts. Work 1 row. Next row (RS) - K2tog. Fasten off. **
Slip next 20 sts onto a stitch-holder and leave for neckband. With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts, knit to last 2 sts, K2tog ... 6 sts. Cont on these 6 sts for right side of front neck. Rep from ** to **.

SLEEVES

Using 4mm needles and M, cast on 31 sts.

Beg Cuff -

Work 6 rows rib as for Back, inc one st in centre of last row ... 32 sts. Work 2 rows stocking st.

Shape Raglan -

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 28 sts. Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll alt row until 10 sts rem, then in every row until 4 sts rem. Leave rem 4 sts on a stitch-holder for neckband.

NECKBAND

Using mattress st, join raglan seams noting that tops of sleeves form part of neckline and leaving left back raglan open. With RS facing using 4mm needles and M, knit across 4 sts from left sleeve stitch-holder, knit up 8 sts evenly along left side of neck, knit across 20 sts from front stitch-holder, knit up 8 sts evenly along right side of front neck, knit across 4 sts from right sleeve stitch-holder, then knit across 36 sts from back stitch-holder - dec one st in centre ... 79 sts. Work 3 rows rib as for lower band of Back, beg with a 2nd row. Cast off loosely in rib.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using C, embroider heart motif from graph on front of sweater as pictured. Using mattress st, join left back raglan and neckband seam. Join side and sleeve seams.
