5 STONE GAME PIECES

5 Stone Game Pieces Project

LEVEL: EASY

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Small amounts/scraps of woven cotton fabric (we used Indonesian Batik Bubbles Flat Fats Bundle 5 Piece)
  • Rice for filling
  • Needle and thread
  • Sewing machine and matching thread
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Pins

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Cut out 5 pieces of cotton fabric 2 inches by 31/2 inches.

Step 2 - Turn the fabric under 1/4 inch towards the wrong side of the fabric along one long side of a rectangular piece of fabric. Iron or finger press the folded edge.

Step 3 - With right sides together, pin the rectangle fabric together so the folded edge is on the top. Measure and mark a 1/4 inch seam along the unfinished side and bottom of the fabric. Make a dot where the two lines intersect on the corner.

Step 4 - Sew together with a sewing machine or hand stitch together using a very small running stitch or back stitch to sew together the sides and bottom of the fabric along the lines starting on the side seam. When you get to the bottom of the side seam, stop at the dot. Turn your work and continue sewing the bottom seam.

Step 5 -You can clip away some of the seam allowance at the two corners to prevent bulk when turning through. Be careful not to clip too close to the stitching lines.

Step 6 - Turn the pocket right side out, making sure the corners are well pushed through and pointy.

Step 7 - Fill with enough rice so that the pyramid is firm but you are still able to sew the top together.

Step 8 - Pull together the opening so that they seam is in the middle of one side, this will give the pocket a pyramid shape.

Step 9 - To finish, sew together with a hand needle and thread using a blind stitch. Make another 4 stones and you are ready to play!
