MINKY FLEECE SNUGGLY BOOTS

Minky Fleece Snuggly Boots Project

Level: Easy

What you'll need:

  • Faux fur fabric
  • 30cm of main fabric - minky fleece
  • 30cm of lining fabric
  • 30cm of cotton wadding / thick interfacing
  • Matching thread
  • Sewing machine and basic tools

Instructions

Step 1 - Spread the main fabric (wrong side up) on the table and trace the pattern keeping 1.5cm seam allowance on all sides.

Step 2 - Place and pin together the right sides of the bottom part and the top of the
front part and stitch along the seam.

Step 3 - Cut out half of the seam allowance taken before and mark notches in distances of half an inch. Make sure the stitching stays in-tact. Press the seams open. Repeat the same steps for the back parts and the other boot.

Step 4 - Place the front and back parts of both the boots together by matching the notches. Then pin and stitch these together.

Step 5 - Repeat the above steps for the lining fabric. Leave a 5cm opening in centre of the inside leg seam.

Step 6 - Cut out pieces of the wadding/interfacing of the base parts from the main fabric leaving a 1cm seam allowance. Place and pin together the wrong sides matching the notches and stitch.

Step 7 - Turn all the parts of the boot wrong side out and place the base part and pin these together matching the notches. Stitch along the seam and trim out half the seam allowance. Turn the boots right side out and press the seams out.

Step 8 - Insert the lining inside the main boot keeping right sides together. Match the notches, pin them together and stitch.

Step 9 - Take out the bottom of the lining from the opening in the inside leg seam. Place and pin together the wrong sides of the base of the lining and the boot matching the notches and stitch. Cut out any excessive seam allowance.

Step 10 - Take out the right side of the lining through the opening in the inside leg seam and hand-stitch it together. Press out the base of the boot.

Step 11 - Lastly, put the lining inside the main boot. A creative decision can also be to fold out a small part of it to show from the outside of the boot. Enjoy your warm snuggly boots!
