GINGHAM DOG BANDANA

Gingham Dog Bandana Project

LEVEL: EASY

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 1m of cotton fabric
  • Paper and pencil to create template
  • Sewing machine and matching thread
  • Measuring tape
  • Pins
  • Iron and ironing board

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1. Measure around your dog's neck to determine length of bandana.

Step 2. Create pattern by drawing a triangle using the neck measurement + 10cm at either end to allow for tying the fabric in a knot.

Step 3. Add 1 cm seam allowance around pattern piece.

Step 4. Trace around your pattern piece onto the fabric and cut out 2 pieces (1 for the front and 1 for the back).

Step 5. Place and pin your fabric pieces with right sides together. Sew around the outside edges leaving a 5cm gap to turn the bandana right side out.

Step 6. Cut off excess fabric at each point of the triangle, this will help the points be nice and clean when finished.

Step 7. Turn the fabric right side out through the gap left in step 5. Use something pointy like a pencil or knitting needle to push the corners out. Press flat with an iron.

Step 8. To finish top stitch around the outside of the bandana roughly 3mm from the edge, this gives the bandana a nice finish whilst also closing the gap in the seams.
