INSTRUCTIONS

All strips are cut across the width of fabric unless otherwise stated.

• From each of Fabrics A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O & P cut 1 x 9 3/4" strip (16 strips in total). Crosscut each strip into 2 x 9 3/4" squares (32 x 9 3/4" squares in total).
• Crosscut one square of each of fabric twice on the diagonal (Diagram 1) making 4 triangles from each square for a total of 64 quarter-square triangle.
• Cut the remaining square of each fabric into a 9" square (16 x 9" squares). Crosscut each square into 4 x 4 1/2" squares (Diagram 2) for a total of 64 x 4 1/2" squares.
• From Fabric O cut 5 x 2 1/2" strips for binding.

BLOCKS

Note - you will require 60 quarter-square triangles and 60 squares to make the blocks, so 4 triangles and 4 squares will be left over. There are two blocks - Block 1 is a basic four-patch block, Block 2 is a quarter-square triangle block.

Step 1 - For Block 1 arrange the 4 1/2" squares into sets of 4 in desired combinations or refer to photo if preferred. To make a block sew the two top squares together pressing seam in one direction then sew bottom two squares together pressing seam in opposite direction. Sew top and bottom units together and press seam in on one direction.

Step 2 - For Block 2 arrange the quarter-square triangles into sets of 4 in desired combinations or refer to photo if preferred.

To make a block sew two left-hand sid triangles together pressing seam in one direction then sew remaining two right-hand side triangles together pressing seam in opposite direction. Sew left and right units together and press seam in on one direction. Repeat to make a total of 15 quarter-square triangle blocks.

Step 3 - Arrange the blocks into 6 rows with 5 blocks in each row starting with Block 1 in Row 1 alternating the blocks across the row. Start with Block 2 in Row 2, again alternating the blocks across the row. Rows 3 and 5 start with Block 1 as for Row 1, Rows 4 and 6 start with Block 2 as for Row 2. Refer to photo for placement if necessary.

Step 4 - When happy with your block layout sew blocks in each row together. Press seams in one direction alternating the direction in each row.

Step 5 - Sew the rows together matching seams. Press seams in one direction.

Step 6 - Layer the backing, batting and quilt top and baste together. Quilt as desired. We quilted 1/4" on each side of block seams and 1/4" on each side of diagonal seams. Trim off excess batting and fabric.

Step 7 - Join the 5 x 2 1/2" binding strips on the bias to make one long strip. Press in half lengthwise and bind mitering corners. Attach a label or sign and date your quilt.
