FELT MOTHERS DAY ROSETTES

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Start by deciding on the size of your finished piece. We chose a circle that had a diameter of 8cm. Draw this shape onto the card and cut out.

Step 2 - Then cut strips of felt roughly 3cm wide and 1m long. (You may need to use multiple strips of felt to make up the whole
outside ruffle) Start pleating/ folding it on itself, pining every inch or so together with a pin.

Step 3 - Continue this process using your cut-out circle as a reference as to how much felt you need to pleat. If you need to add
strips together, you can hide the joins within the pleats.

Step 4 - Once you have pleated enough felt to go around the circumference of the circle, cut the felt leaving about an inch of un-pleated felt.

Step 5 - Using a needle and thread, stitch the pleats down using large running stitches and sew the ends together so that the pleats
create a complete circle. You can also use hot glue to glue the pleats down.

Step 6 - Cut 1 long piece of felt and fold in half to create the tails of the rosette. Then glue in place on the circle card template
using the hot glue gun. Create another set of felt ribbons slightly smaller if you want to double the felt ribbon tales.

Step 7 - Now glue the pleated felt circle in place onto the card as well.

Step 8 - Trace around circle template onto felt and cut out. Again, you can create a doubled look by cutting a slightly bigger felt circle to glue behind the smaller circle.

Step 9 - Now you can decorate your felt rosette. Using contrasting felt colours, lightly draw your designs onto the felt
and cut out your shapes using scissors. Be as creative as you like and cut out shapes, letters or numbers to personalize your rosette.

Step 10 - Use the hot glue gun or fabric glue to glue the pieces of your design onto the circle of felt.

Step 11 - To finish glue the brooch pin to the pack of the card with the hot glue gun.
