PURE WOOL ENTWINE RIBBED JACKET

LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• '4 Four Seasons' Pure Wool Entwine
• 9 (9-10-10) x 100g balls
• 1 pair 5.50mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension
• 1 pair 3.25mm knitting needles
• 1 circular 3.25mm knitting needle (80cm long)
• 5 stitch-holders
• Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

MEASUREMENTS

TENSION

16.5 sts x 34 rows to 10cm over sleeve patt, using 5.50mm needles.

Note - This garment has been worked on bigger needles and at a different tension to normally recommended.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

K1B = Knit 1 below - insert right-hand needle into centre of stitch one row below next st on left-hand needle, knit in the usual manner

INSTRUCTIONS

BACK

Using pair of 3.25mm needles, cast on 85 (93-101-111) sts.

Beg Lower Band

1st row(RS) - K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.

2nd row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows form rib.

Work a further 9 rows rib � 11 rows rib in all. Change to pair of 5.50mm needles.

Beg Patt

1st row (WS) - (P1, K1) 3 times, yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, knit to last 8 sts, K2tog, yfwd, (K1, P1) 3 times.

2nd row - K8, * K1B, P1, rep from * to last 9 sts, K1B, K8.

Last 2 rows form patt.

Cont in patt until work measures 45cm from beg (note - 5cm has been allowed for the natural lengthening of this garment when worn), ending with a 2nd row on RS.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes.

Shape Raglan Armholes

1st row (WS) - (P1, K1) 3 times, yfwd, (sl 1,K1, psso) twice, knit to last 10 sts, (K2tog) twice, yfwd, (K1, P1) 3 times � 83 (91-99- 109) sts.

2nd row - K8, P1, * K1B, P1, rep from * to last 8 sts, K8.

3rd row - (P1, K1) 3 times, yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, knit to last 8 sts, K2tog, yfwd, (K1, P1) 3 times.

4th row - As 2nd row.

5th row - As 1st row � 81 (89-97-107) sts.

6th row - K9, P1, * K1B, P1, rep from * to last9 sts, K9.

Keeping dec and patt correct (as before), dec one st (inside 8 sts on each end of work) in 3rd (3rd-3rd-next) row, then in every foll 4th (4th-4th-alt) rows until 71 (81-93-29)

Sizes S, M and L only - then in every foll alt row until 23 (25-25) sts rem.

Keeping patt correct and working extra sts into patt as they become available, noting not to work a "K1B" on edges, but instead to work as a K1, inc one st at each end of 2nd row, then in every foll 10th (10th-8th-8th) row until there are 51 (65-53-65) sts, then in every foll 12th (12th-10th-10th) row until there are 65 (69-73-77) sts.

Cont in patt without shaping until sleeve measure 48cm from beg, working last row on RS.

Shape Raglans

1st row(WS) - (P1, K1) 3 times, yfwd, (sl 1, K1, sso) twice, knit to last 10 sts, (K2tog) twice, yfwd, (K1, P1) 3 times � 63 (67-71-75) sts.

2nd row - K8, P1, * K1B, P1, rep from * to last8 sts, K8.

3rd row - (P1, K1) 3 times, yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, knit to last 8 sts, K2tog, yfwd, (K1, P1) 3 times.

4th row - As 2nd row.

5th row - As 1st row � 61 (65-69-73) sts.

6th row - K9, P1, * K1B, P1, rep from * to last 9 sts, K9.

Keeping dec and patt correct (as before), dec one st (inside 8 sts on each end of work) in 3rd row, then in every foll 4th row until 41 (45-49-55) sts rem, then in every foll alt row until 13 sts rem.

Leave rem sts on a stitch-holder.

RIGHT FRONT BAND

Using mattress st, join raglan seams from coloured threads, noting that tops of sleeves form part of neckline. With RS facing, using circular 3.25mm needle, knit up 150 (153- 155-155) sts evenly along right front edge to stitch-holder, knit across 8 sts from right front stitch-holder as foll - (K3tog) twice, K2tog, knit across 13 sts from right sleeve stitch-holder, then knit across first 11 (12-12-14) sts from back stitchholder � 177 (181-183-185) sts.Work in rib as for lower band of Back, beg with a 2nd row, until right front band measures 6cm, ending with a 2nd row.

Cast off loosely in rib.

LEFT FRONT BAND

With RS facing and using circular 3.25mm needle, knit across rem sts from back neck as foll - K2tog, K10 (11-11-13), knit across 13 sts from left sleeve stitch-holder, knit across left front stitch-holder as folls - K2tog, (K3tog) twice, knit up 150 (153-155- 155) sts evenly along left front edge � 177 (181-183-185) sts.

Complete as for Right Front Band.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS.Using mattress st, join side and sleeve seams. Join side edges of Collar tog at centre back neck.
