WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 'Abbey Road' Wool To Be Wild 100g balls 2 x 1st Colour (C1) Green, 2 x 2nd Contrast (C2) Coral, 2 x 3rd Contrast (C3) Mustard, 2 x 4th Contrast (C4) Wine, 2 x 5th Contrast (C5) Denim, 7 x 6th Contrast (C6) Nude, 2 x 7th Contrast (C7) Natural and 2 x 8th Contrast (C8) Light Blue.
  • 1 pair each 6.50mm and 7mm knitting needles, or sizes required for correct tension
  • A large crochet hook for tassels
  • Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

MEASUREMENT

Width (approx) cm: 30
Length (approx) cm: 240

TENSION

14 sts x 19 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 6.50mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

FAIR ISLE SCARF PANEL

Using 6.50mm needles and C1, cast on 43 sts.

1st row (WS) - Knit.

Beg Fair Isle Patt -

Note- When working in fair isle patt, do not weave colours, but carry colour not in use loosely across on WS of work. Do not carry yarn across more than 7 sts and where this is necessary, wind yarn under and over colour in use every 5 sts. Always carry second colour above first colour and always carry colours to end of row.

Change to 7mm needles.

Using C1 and C2, work rows 1 to 54 incl from Graph A.

Using C3 and C4, work rows 1 to 54 incl from Graph B.

Using C5 and C6, work rows 1 to 54 incl from Graph C.

Using C4 and C7, work rows 1 to 54 incl from Graph D.

Using C6 in place of C3 and C1 in place of C4, work rows 1 to 54 incl from Graph B.

Using C7 in place of C5 and C4 in place of C6, work rows 1 to 54 in cl from Graph C.

Using C8 in place of C4 and C5 in place of C7, work rows 1 to 54 incl from Graph D.

Using C2 in place of C1 and C3 in place of C2, work rows 1 to 54 incl from Graph A.

Change to 6.50mm needles. Using C2, knit 1 row.

Cast off loosely knitways on WS.

STOCKING ST SCARF PANEL

Using 6,50mm needles and C6, cast on 43 sts.

1st row (WS) - Knit.

Work in stocking st beg with a knit row, until work measures same as Fair Isle Panel, ending with a knit row.

Cast off knitways on WS.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Tack Fair Isle Panel and stocking st panels tog so that cast on, cast off and side edges are matching. Using C8, work a row of blanket stitch around all edges through both thicknesses. Using 1 strand of each colour, wind yarn around a piece of cardboard 15cm long and cut along one edge. Using a large crochet hook and one strand of each colour make a tassel in each corner of Scarf as pictured.
